Números 13— comparação

1O SENHOR falou a Moisés, dizendo:

2“Envie homens para que espiem a terra de Canaã, que eu dou aos filhos de Israel. De cada tribo de seus pais, você enviará um homem, sendo cada um deles um príncipe entre eles.”

3Moisés os enviou do deserto de Parã, segundo a ordem do SENHOR. Todos eles eram homens que eram chefes dos filhos de Israel.

4Estes eram os seus nomes:

5Da tribo de Simeão, Safate, filho de Hori.

6Da tribo de Judá, Calebe, filho de Jefoné.

7Da tribo de Issacar, Igal, filho de José.

8Da tribo de Efraim, Oseias, filho de Num.

9Da tribo de Benjamim, Palti, filho de Rafu.

10Da tribo de Zebulom, Gadiel, filho de Sodi.

11Da tribo de José, da tribo de Manassés, Gadi, filho de Susi.

12Da tribo de Dã, Amiel, filho de Gemali.

13Da tribo de Aser, Setur, filho de Micael.

14Da tribo de Naftali, Nabi, filho de Vofsi.

15Da tribo de Gade, Geuel, filho de Maqui.

16Estes são os nomes dos homens que Moisés enviou para espiar a terra. Moisés chamou a Oseias, filho de Num, de Josué.

17Moisés os enviou para espiar a terra de Canaã e lhes disse: “Subam por este caminho, pelo Sul, e subam à região montanhosa.

18Vejam como é a terra; e o povo que nela habita, se são fortes ou fracos, se são poucos ou muitos;

19e como é a terra em que habitam, se é boa ou ruim; e como são as cidades em que habitam, se em acampamentos ou em fortalezas;

20e como é a terra, se é fértil ou pobre, se nela há árvores ou não. Sejam corajosos e tragam alguns dos frutos da terra.” Ora, a época era a época das primeiras uvas maduras.

21Então eles subiram e espiaram a terra desde o deserto de Zim até Reobe, à entrada de Hamate.

22Eles subiram pelo Sul e chegaram a Hebrom; e Aimã, Sesai e Talmai, os filhos de Anaque, estavam lá. (Ora, Hebrom foi edificada sete anos antes de Zoã, no Egito.)

23Eles chegaram ao vale de Escol e cortaram dali um ramo com um único cacho de uvas, e o carregaram em uma vara entre dois homens. Eles também trouxeram algumas romãs e figos.

24Aquele lugar foi chamado de vale de Escol, por causa do cacho que os filhos de Israel cortaram dali.

25Eles retornaram de espiar a terra ao fim de quarenta dias.

26Eles foram e chegaram a Moisés, a Arão e a toda a congregação dos filhos de Israel, no deserto de Parã, em Cades; e trouxeram notícias a eles e a toda a congregação. Eles lhes mostraram o fruto da terra.

27Eles lhe relataram, e disseram: “Fomos à terra para onde você nos enviou. Certamente ela mana leite e mel, e este é o seu fruto.

28Contudo, o povo que habita na terra é forte, e as cidades são fortificadas e muito grandes. Além disso, vimos os filhos de Anaque lá.

29Amaleque habita na terra do Sul. O heteu, o jebuseu e o amorreu habitam na região montanhosa. O cananeu habita junto ao mar e ao longo da margem do Jordão.”

30Calebe acalmou o povo perante Moisés, e disse: “Subamos imediatamente e tomemos posse dela; pois somos perfeitamente capazes de vencê-la!”

31Mas os homens que subiram com ele disseram: “Não somos capazes de subir contra o povo; pois eles são mais fortes do que nós.”

32Eles trouxeram aos filhos de Israel um mau relatório da terra que haviam espiado, dizendo: “A terra, pela qual passamos para espiá-la, é uma terra que devora os seus habitantes; e todo o povo que vimos nela são homens de grande estatura.

33Lá vimos os nefilins, os filhos de Anaque, que descendem dos nefilins. Éramos aos nossos próprios olhos como gafanhotos, e assim também éramos aos olhos deles.” Aqui está a tradução do texto para o português brasileiro, seguindo rigorosamente as diretrizes teológicas, linguísticas e de formatação USFM exigidas:

1Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

2“Send men, that they may spy out the land of Canaan, which I give to the children of Israel. Of every tribe of their fathers, you shall send a man, every one a prince among them.”

3Moses sent them from the wilderness of Paran according to the commandment of Yahweh. All of them were men who were heads of the children of Israel.

4These were their names: Of the tribe of Reuben, Shammua the son of Zaccur.

5Of the tribe of Simeon, Shaphat the son of Hori.

6Of the tribe of Judah, Caleb the son of Jephunneh.

7Of the tribe of Issachar, Igal the son of Joseph.

8Of the tribe of Ephraim, Hoshea the son of Nun.

9Of the tribe of Benjamin, Palti the son of Raphu.

10Of the tribe of Zebulun, Gaddiel the son of Sodi.

11Of the tribe of Joseph, of the tribe of Manasseh, Gaddi the son of Susi.

12Of the tribe of Dan, Ammiel the son of Gemalli.

13Of the tribe of Asher, Sethur the son of Michael.

14Of the tribe of Naphtali, Nahbi the son of Vophsi.

15Of the tribe of Gad, Geuel the son of Machi.

16These are the names of the men who Moses sent to spy out the land. Moses called Hoshea the son of Nun Joshua.

17Moses sent them to spy out the land of Canaan, and said to them, “Go up this way by the South, and go up into the hill country.

18See the land, what it is; and the people who dwell therein, whether they are strong or weak, whether they are few or many;

19and what the land is that they dwell in, whether it is good or bad; and what cities they are that they dwell in, whether in camps, or in strongholds;

20and what the land is, whether it is fertile or poor, whether there is wood therein, or not. Be courageous, and bring some of the fruit of the land.” Now the time was the time of the first-ripe grapes.

21So they went up, and spied out the land from the wilderness of Zin to Rehob, to the entrance of Hamath.

22They went up by the South, and came to Hebron; and Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the children of Anak, were there. (Now Hebron was built seven years before Zoan in Egypt.)

23They came to the valley of Eshcol, and cut down from there a branch with one cluster of grapes, and they bore it on a staff between two. They also brought some of the pomegranates and figs.

24That place was called the valley of Eshcol, because of the cluster which the children of Israel cut down from there.

25They returned from spying out the land at the end of forty days.

26They went and came to Moses, to Aaron, and to all the congregation of the children of Israel, to the wilderness of Paran, to Kadesh; and brought back word to them and to all the congregation. They showed them the fruit of the land.

27They told him, and said, “We came to the land where you sent us. Surely it flows with milk and honey, and this is its fruit.

28However, the people who dwell in the land are strong, and the cities are fortified and very large. Moreover, we saw the children of Anak there.

29Amalek dwells in the land of the South. The Hittite, the Jebusite, and the Amorite dwell in the hill country. The Canaanite dwells by the sea, and along the side of the Jordan.”

30Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, “Let’s go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it!”

31But the men who went up with him said, “We aren’t able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.”

32They brought up an evil report of the land which they had spied out to the children of Israel, saying, “The land, through which we have gone to spy it out, is a land that eats up its inhabitants; and all the people who we saw in it are men of great stature.

33There we saw the Nephilim, the sons of Anak, who come from the Nephilim. We were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.”
