Lucas 8— comparação

1Logo depois, ele andava por cidades e aldeias, pregando e trazendo as boas novas do Reino de Deus. Com ele estavam os doze,

2e certas mulheres que haviam sido curadas de espíritos malignos e enfermidades: Maria, chamada Madalena, da qual haviam saído sete demônios;

3e Joana, mulher de Cuza, administrador de Herodes; Susana; e muitas outras que os serviam com os seus bens.

4Quando uma grande multidão se reuniu e pessoas de todas as cidades vinham a ele, ele falou por meio de uma parábola:

5“O semeador saiu a semear a sua semente. Enquanto semeava, uma parte caiu à beira do caminho, e foi pisada, e as aves do céu a devoraram.

6Outra parte caiu sobre a pedra e, assim que cresceu, secou, porque não tinha umidade.

7Outra caiu no meio dos espinhos, e os espinhos cresceram com ela e a sufocaram.

8Outra caiu em boa terra, cresceu e produziu fruto a cem por um.” Dizendo estas coisas, ele exclamou: “Quem tem ouvidos para ouvir, ouça!”

9Então os seus discípulos lhe perguntaram: “O que significa esta parábola?”

10Ele disse: “A vocês é dado conhecer os mistérios do Reino de Deus, mas aos outros é dado em parábolas, para que 'vendo, não vejam, e ouvindo, não entendam.'

11“A parábola é esta: A semente é a palavra de Deus.

12Os que estão à beira do caminho são os que ouvem; então vem o diabo e tira a palavra do coração deles, para que não creiam e sejam salvos.

13Os que estão sobre a pedra são os que, ouvindo, recebem a palavra com alegria; mas estes não têm raiz. Eles creem por algum tempo, e na hora da tentação se desviam.

14A que caiu entre os espinhos, estes são os que ouviram, e, seguindo o seu caminho, são sufocados pelas preocupações, riquezas e prazeres da vida; e não dão fruto que amadureça.

15Mas a que caiu em boa terra, estes são os que, com um coração honesto e bom, tendo ouvido a palavra, a retêm firmemente, e produzem fruto com perseverança.

16“Ninguém, depois de acender uma candeia, a cobre com um recipiente ou a coloca debaixo de uma cama; mas a coloca num suporte, para que os que entram vejam a luz.

17Pois não há nada oculto que não venha a ser revelado, nem nada em segredo que não venha a ser conhecido e trazido à luz.

18Portanto, prestem atenção em como vocês ouvem. Pois a quem tem, lhe será dado; e a quem não tem, até o que pensa ter lhe será tirado.”

19A mãe e os irmãos dele vieram até ele, e não conseguiam se aproximar dele por causa da multidão.

20Algumas pessoas lhe disseram: “Tua mãe e teus irmãos estão lá fora, desejando te ver.”

21Mas ele lhes respondeu: “Minha mãe e meus irmãos são estes que ouvem a palavra de Deus e a praticam.”

22Aconteceu que, num daqueles dias, ele entrou num barco, ele e os seus discípulos, e disse-lhes: “Vamos passar para o outro lado do lago.” Então eles partiram.

23Mas, enquanto navegavam, ele adormeceu. Uma tempestade de vento desceu sobre o lago, e o barco estava se enchendo de água, colocando-os em perigo.

24Eles se aproximaram dele e o acordaram, dizendo: “Mestre, Mestre, estamos perecendo!” Ele acordou e repreendeu o vento e a fúria da água; então eles cessaram, e houve calmaria.

25Ele lhes disse: “Onde está a fé de vocês?” Com medo, eles se admiraram, dizendo uns aos outros: “Quem é este, então, que comanda até os ventos e a água, e eles lhe obedecem?”

26Então eles chegaram à região dos gadarenos, que fica em frente à Galileia.

27Quando Jesus desceu em terra, um certo homem da cidade, que tinha demônios há muito tempo, veio ao seu encontro. Ele não vestia roupas e não morava em uma casa, mas nos sepulcros.

28Quando ele viu Jesus, gritou e prostrou-se diante dele, e com voz forte disse: “O que tenho eu contigo, Jesus, Filho do Deus Altíssimo? Eu te imploro, não me atormentes!”

29Pois Jesus estava ordenando que o espírito imundo saísse do homem. Pois o espírito imundo muitas vezes havia se apoderado do homem. Ele era mantido sob guarda e preso com correntes e grilhões. Quebrando as amarras, ele era impelido pelo demônio para o deserto.

30Jesus lhe perguntou: “Qual é o seu nome?”

31Eles lhe imploravam que não lhes ordenasse ir para o abismo.

32Ora, havia ali uma manada de muitos porcos pastando no monte, e eles lhe imploraram que lhes permitisse entrar neles. Então ele lhes permitiu.

33Os demônios saíram do homem e entraram nos porcos, e a manada precipitou-se pelo despenhadeiro para dentro do lago e se afogou.

34Quando os que os cuidavam viram o que havia acontecido, fugiram e anunciaram isso na cidade e nos campos.

35As pessoas saíram para ver o que havia acontecido. Elas vieram a Jesus e encontraram o homem de quem os demônios haviam saído, sentado aos pés de Jesus, vestido e em perfeito juízo; e ficaram com medo.

36Os que viram isso lhes contaram como aquele que havia sido possesso por demônios foi curado.

37Todo o povo da região vizinha dos gadarenos pediu-lhe que se retirasse deles, pois estavam com muito medo. Então ele entrou no barco e voltou.

38Mas o homem de quem os demônios haviam saído implorava para ir com ele, mas Jesus o despediu, dizendo:

39“Volte para a sua casa e anuncie as grandes coisas que Deus fez por você.” Ele seguiu o seu caminho, proclamando por toda a cidade as grandes coisas que Jesus havia feito por ele.

40Quando Jesus voltou, a multidão o recebeu com alegria, pois todos estavam esperando por ele.

41Eis que veio um homem chamado Jairo. Ele era um dos líderes da sinagoga. Ele se prostrou aos pés de Jesus e lhe implorou que fosse à sua casa,

42pois ele tinha uma filha unigênita, de cerca de doze anos de idade, e ela estava morrendo. Mas, enquanto ele ia, as multidões o apertavam.

43Uma mulher que tinha um fluxo de sangue havia doze anos, que tinha gasto todo o seu sustento com médicos e não pôde ser curada por nenhum deles,

44aproximou-se por trás dele e tocou na orla do seu manto. Imediatamente o seu fluxo de sangue parou.

45Jesus disse: “Quem me tocou?”

46Mas Jesus disse: “Alguém me tocou, pois eu percebi que de mim saiu poder.”

47Quando a mulher viu que não tinha passado despercebida, ela veio tremendo; e, prostrando-se diante dele, declarou-lhe na presença de todo o povo o motivo pelo qual o havia tocado, e como fora curada imediatamente.

48Ele lhe disse: “Filha, tenha ânimo. A sua fé a curou. Vá em paz.”

49Enquanto ele ainda falava, chegou alguém da casa do líder da sinagoga, dizendo-lhe: “Sua filha está morta. Não incomode o Mestre.”

50Mas Jesus, ouvindo isso, respondeu-lhe: “Não tenha medo. Apenas creia, e ela será curada.”

51Quando ele chegou à casa, não permitiu que ninguém entrasse, exceto Pedro, João, Tiago, o pai da criança e a mãe dela.

52Todos estavam chorando e lamentando por ela, mas ele disse: “Não chorem. Ela não está morta, mas dormindo.”

53Eles zombavam dele, sabendo que ela estava morta.

54Mas ele os colocou todos para fora, e tomando-a pela mão, chamou-a, dizendo: “Menina, levante-se!”

55O espírito dela retornou, e ela se levantou imediatamente. Ele ordenou que lhe dessem algo para comer.

56Os pais dela ficaram maravilhados, mas ele lhes ordenou que não contassem a ninguém o que havia acontecido.

1Soon afterwards, he went about through cities and villages, preaching and bringing the good news of God’s Kingdom. With him were the twelve,

2and certain women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities: Mary who was called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out;

3and Joanna, the wife of Chuzas, Herod’s steward; Susanna; and many others who served them from their possessions.

4When a great multitude came together and people from every city were coming to him, he spoke by a parable:

5“The farmer went out to sow his seed. As he sowed, some fell along the road, and it was trampled under foot, and the birds of the sky devoured it. *

6Some seed fell on the rock, and as soon as it grew, it withered away, because it had no moisture. *

7Some fell amid the thorns, and the thorns grew with it and choked it. *

8Some fell into the good ground and grew and produced one hundred times as much fruit.”* As he said these things, he called out, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear!”*

9Then his disciples asked him, “What does this parable mean?”

10He said, “To you it is given to know the mysteries of God’s Kingdom, but to the rest it is given in parables, that ‘seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.’*

11“Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. *

12Those along the road are those who hear; then the devil comes and takes away the word from their heart, that they may not believe and be saved. *

13Those on the rock are they who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; but these have no root. They believe for a while, then fall away in time of temptation. *

14What fell among the thorns, these are those who have heard, and as they go on their way they are choked with cares, riches, and pleasures of life; and they bring no fruit to maturity. *

15Those in the good ground, these are those who with an honest and good heart, having heard the word, hold it tightly, and produce fruit with perseverance.*

16“No one, when he has lit a lamp, covers it with a container or puts it under a bed; but puts it on a stand, that those who enter in may see the light. *

17For nothing is hidden that will not be revealed, nor anything secret that will not be known and come to light. *

18Be careful therefore how you hear. For whoever has, to him will be given; and whoever doesn’t have, from him will be taken away even that which he thinks he has.”*

19His mother and brothers came to him, and they could not come near him for the crowd.

20Some people told him, “Your mother and your brothers stand outside, desiring to see you.”

21But he answered them, “My mother and my brothers are these who hear the word of God and do it.”*

22Now on one of those days, he entered into a boat, himself and his disciples, and he said to them, “Let’s go over to the other side of the lake.”* So they launched out.

23But as they sailed, he fell asleep. A wind storm came down on the lake, and they were taking on dangerous amounts of water.

24They came to him and awoke him, saying, “Master, Master, we are dying!” He awoke and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water; then they ceased, and it was calm.

25He said to them, “Where is your faith?”* Being afraid, they marveled, saying to one another, “Who is this then, that he commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him?”

26Then they arrived at the country of the Gadarenes, which is opposite Galilee.

27When Jesus stepped ashore, a certain man out of the city who had demons for a long time met him. He wore no clothes, and didn’t live in a house, but in the tombs.

28When he saw Jesus, he cried out and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, “What do I have to do with you, Jesus, you Son of the Most High God? I beg you, don’t torment me!”

29For Jesus was commanding the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For the unclean spirit had often seized the man. He was kept under guard and bound with chains and fetters. Breaking the bonds apart, he was driven by the demon into the desert.

30Jesus asked him, “What is your name?”* He said, “Legion,” for many demons had entered into him.

31They begged him that he would not command them to go into the abyss.

32Now there was there a herd of many pigs feeding on the mountain, and they begged him that he would allow them to enter into those. Then he allowed them.

33The demons came out of the man and entered into the pigs, and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and were drowned.

34When those who fed them saw what had happened, they fled and told it in the city and in the country.

35People went out to see what had happened. They came to Jesus and found the man from whom the demons had gone out, sitting at Jesus’ feet, clothed and in his right mind; and they were afraid.

36Those who saw it told them how he who had been possessed by demons was healed.

37All the people of the surrounding country of the Gadarenes asked him to depart from them, for they were very much afraid. Then he entered into the boat and returned.

38But the man from whom the demons had gone out begged him that he might go with him, but Jesus sent him away, saying,

39“Return to your house, and declare what great things God has done for you.”* He went his way, proclaiming throughout the whole city what great things Jesus had done for him.

40When Jesus returned, the multitude welcomed him, for they were all waiting for him.

41Behold, a man named Jairus came. He was a ruler of the synagogue. He fell down at Jesus’ feet and begged him to come into his house,

42for he had an only born daughter, about twelve years of age, and she was dying. But as he went, the multitudes pressed against him.

43A woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years, who had spent all her living on physicians and could not be healed by any,

44came behind him and touched the fringe of his cloak. Immediately the flow of her blood stopped.

45Jesus said, “Who touched me?”* When all denied it, Peter and those with him said, “Master, the multitudes press and jostle you, and you say, ‘Who touched me?’*”

46But Jesus said, “Someone did touch me, for I perceived that power has gone out of me.”*

47When the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling; and falling down before him declared to him in the presence of all the people the reason why she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately.

48He said to her, “Daughter, cheer up. Your faith has made you well. Go in peace.”*

49While he still spoke, one from the ruler of the synagogue’s house came, saying to him, “Your daughter is dead. Don’t trouble the Teacher.”

50But Jesus hearing it, answered him, “Don’t be afraid. Only believe, and she will be healed.”*

51When he came to the house, he didn’t allow anyone to enter in, except Peter, John, James, the father of the child, and her mother.

52All were weeping and mourning her, but he said, “Don’t weep. She isn’t dead, but sleeping.”*

53They were ridiculing him, knowing that she was dead.

54But he put them all outside, and taking her by the hand, he called, saying, “Child, arise!”*

55Her spirit returned, and she rose up immediately. He commanded that something be given to her to eat.

56Her parents were amazed, but he commanded them to tell no one what had been done.
