Josué 11— comparação

1Quando Jabim, rei de Hazor, ouviu isso, enviou mensageiros a Jobabe, rei de Madom, ao rei de Sinrom, ao rei de Acsafe,

2e aos reis que estavam no norte, na região montanhosa, na Arabá ao sul de Quinerete, na baixada, e nas colinas de Dor, a oeste;

3aos cananeus no leste e no oeste, aos amorreus, aos heteus, aos ferezeus, aos jebuseus na região montanhosa, e aos heveus ao pé do Hermom, na terra de Mispá.

4Eles saíram, eles e todos os seus exércitos com eles, muita gente, tão numerosa como a areia que está na praia do mar, com muitíssimos cavalos e carros de guerra.

5Todos esses reis se reuniram; e vieram e acamparam juntos nas águas de Merom, para lutar contra Israel.

6O SENHOR disse a Josué: “Não tenha medo por causa deles; pois amanhã, a esta mesma hora, eu os entregarei todos mortos diante de Israel. Você cortará os tendões dos seus cavalos e queimará os seus carros de guerra com fogo.”

7Então Josué veio repentinamente, com todos os guerreiros, contra eles junto às águas de Merom, e os atacou.

8O SENHOR os entregou nas mãos de Israel, e eles os feriram, e os perseguiram até a grande Sidom, e até Misrefote-Maim, e até o vale de Mispá, a leste. Eles os feriram até que não lhes deixaram nenhum sobrevivente.

9Josué fez com eles como o SENHOR lhe disse. Ele cortou os tendões dos seus cavalos e queimou os seus carros de guerra com fogo.

10Josué voltou naquele tempo, e tomou Hazor, e feriu o seu rei com a espada; pois Hazor, no passado, era a cabeça de todos aqueles reinos.

11Eles feriram todas as pessoas que nela estavam ao fio da espada, destruindo-as totalmente. Não restou ninguém que respirasse. Ele queimou Hazor com fogo.

12Josué capturou todas as cidades daqueles reis, com os seus reis, e os feriu ao fio da espada, e os destruiu totalmente, como Moisés, o servo do SENHOR, havia ordenado.

13Mas, quanto às cidades que estavam sobre as suas colinas, Israel não queimou nenhuma delas, exceto apenas Hazor. Josué a queimou.

14Os filhos de Israel tomaram todos os despojos dessas cidades, com o gado, como despojo para si mesmos; mas a todos os homens eles feriram ao fio da espada, até que os tivessem destruído. Eles não deixaram ninguém que respirasse.

15Como o SENHOR ordenou a Moisés, seu servo, assim Moisés ordenou a Josué. E Josué assim o fez. Ele não deixou nada por fazer de tudo o que o SENHOR ordenou a Moisés.

16Assim Josué capturou toda aquela terra: a região montanhosa, todo o Sul, toda a terra de Gósen, a baixada, a Arabá, a região montanhosa de Israel e a sua baixada;

17desde o monte Halaque, que sobe para Seir, até Baal-Gade, no vale do Líbano, ao pé do monte Hermom. Ele capturou todos os seus reis, os feriu e os matou.

18Josué fez guerra por muito tempo contra todos esses reis.

19Não houve uma cidade que fizesse paz com os filhos de Israel, exceto os heveus, os habitantes de Gibeom. Eles tomaram todas em batalha.

20Pois vinha do SENHOR o endurecer os seus corações, para virem contra Israel em batalha, para que ele os destruísse totalmente, para que não tivessem favor, mas para que ele os destruísse, como o SENHOR ordenou a Moisés.

21Josué veio naquele tempo, e eliminou os anaquins da região montanhosa, de Hebrom, de Debir, de Anabe, e de toda a região montanhosa de Judá, e de toda a região montanhosa de Israel. Josué os destruiu totalmente com as suas cidades.

22Não restou nenhum dos anaquins na terra dos filhos de Israel. Somente em Gaza, em Gate, e em Asdode, alguns permaneceram.

23Assim Josué tomou toda a terra, de acordo com tudo o que o SENHOR falou a Moisés; e Josué a deu por herança a Israel, de acordo com as suas divisões por suas tribos. Então a terra teve descanso da guerra.

1When Jabin king of Hazor heard of it, he sent to Jobab king of Madon, to the king of Shimron, to the king of Achshaph,

2and to the kings who were on the north, in the hill country, in the Arabah south of Chinneroth, in the lowland, and in the heights of Dor on the west,

3to the Canaanite on the east and on the west, the Amorite, the Hittite, the Perizzite, the Jebusite in the hill country, and the Hivite under Hermon in the land of Mizpah.

4They went out, they and all their armies with them, many people, even as the sand that is on the seashore in multitude, with very many horses and chariots.

5All these kings met together; and they came and encamped together at the waters of Merom, to fight with Israel.

6Yahweh said to Joshua, “Don’t be afraid because of them; for tomorrow at this time, I will deliver them up all slain before Israel. You shall hamstring their horses and burn their chariots with fire.”

7So Joshua came suddenly, with all the warriors, against them by the waters of Merom, and attacked them.

8Yahweh delivered them into the hand of Israel, and they struck them, and chased them to great Sidon, and to Misrephoth Maim, and to the valley of Mizpah eastward. They struck them until they left them no one remaining.

9Joshua did to them as Yahweh told him. He hamstrung their horses and burned their chariots with fire.

10Joshua turned back at that time, and took Hazor, and struck its king with the sword; for Hazor used to be the head of all those kingdoms.

11They struck all the souls who were in it with the edge of the sword, utterly destroying them. There was no one left who breathed. He burned Hazor with fire.

12Joshua captured all the cities of those kings, with their kings, and he struck them with the edge of the sword, and utterly destroyed them, as Moses the servant of Yahweh commanded.

13But as for the cities that stood on their mounds, Israel burned none of them, except Hazor only. Joshua burned that.

14The children of Israel took all the plunder of these cities, with the livestock, as plunder for themselves; but every man they struck with the edge of the sword, until they had destroyed them. They didn’t leave any who breathed.

15As Yahweh commanded Moses his servant, so Moses commanded Joshua. Joshua did so. He left nothing undone of all that Yahweh commanded Moses.

16So Joshua captured all that land, the hill country, all the South, all the land of Goshen, the lowland, the Arabah, the hill country of Israel, and the lowland of the same,

17from Mount Halak, that goes up to Seir, even to Baal Gad in the valley of Lebanon under Mount Hermon. He took all their kings, struck them, and put them to death.

18Joshua made war a long time with all those kings.

19There was not a city that made peace with the children of Israel, except the Hivites, the inhabitants of Gibeon. They took all in battle.

20For it was of Yahweh to harden their hearts, to come against Israel in battle, that he might utterly destroy them, that they might have no favor, but that he might destroy them, as Yahweh commanded Moses.

21Joshua came at that time, and cut off the Anakim from the hill country, from Hebron, from Debir, from Anab, and from all the hill country of Judah, and from all the hill country of Israel. Joshua utterly destroyed them with their cities.

22There were none of the Anakim left in the land of the children of Israel. Only in Gaza, in Gath, and in Ashdod, did some remain.

23So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that Yahweh spoke to Moses; and Joshua gave it for an inheritance to Israel according to their divisions by their tribes. Then the land had rest from war.
