Gênesis 31— comparação

1Jacó ouviu as palavras dos filhos de Labão, que diziam: “Jacó levou tudo o que era do nosso pai. Ele obteve toda essa riqueza daquilo que era do nosso pai.”

2Jacó observou a expressão no rosto de Labão, e eis que não era favorável a ele como antes.

3O SENHOR disse a Jacó: “Volte para a terra dos seus pais e para os seus parentes, e eu estarei com você.”

4Jacó mandou chamar Raquel e Lia ao campo, junto ao seu rebanho,

5e disse a elas: “Vejo a expressão no rosto do pai de vocês, que não é para comigo como antes; mas o Deus do meu pai tem estado comigo.

6Vocês sabem que tenho servido ao pai de vocês com toda a minha força.

7O pai de vocês me enganou e mudou o meu salário dez vezes, mas Deus não permitiu que ele me fizesse mal.

8Se ele dizia: 'Os salpicados serão o seu salário', então todo o rebanho dava crias salpicadas. Se ele dizia: 'Os listrados serão o seu salário', então todo o rebanho dava crias listradas.

9Assim Deus tirou o rebanho do pai de vocês e o deu a mim.

10Na época do acasalamento do rebanho, levantei os olhos e vi em um sonho, e eis que os bodes que cobriam o rebanho eram listrados, salpicados e malhados.

11O anjo de Deus me disse no sonho: 'Jacó', e eu respondi: 'Eis-me aqui.'

12Ele disse: 'Agora levante os olhos e veja que todos os bodes que cobrem o rebanho são listrados, salpicados e malhados, pois tenho visto tudo o que Labão faz a você.

13Eu sou o Deus de Betel, onde você ungiu uma coluna, onde você me fez um voto. Agora levante-se, saia desta terra e volte para a terra do seu nascimento.'”

14Raquel e Lia lhe responderam: “Há ainda para nós alguma porção ou herança na casa do nosso pai?

15Não somos consideradas estrangeiras por ele? Pois ele nos vendeu e também consumiu o nosso dinheiro.

16Pois toda a riqueza que Deus tirou do nosso pai é nossa e dos nossos filhos. Agora, pois, faça tudo o que Deus lhe disse.”

17Então Jacó se levantou e colocou seus filhos e suas esposas nos camelos,

18e levou todo o seu rebanho e todos os seus bens que havia acumulado, incluindo o rebanho que havia adquirido em Padã-Arã, para ir a Isaque, seu pai, na terra de Canaã.

19Ora, Labão tinha ido tosquiar as suas ovelhas; e Raquel roubou os terafins que eram do seu pai.

20Jacó enganou Labão, o arameu, ao não lhe dizer que estava fugindo.

21Assim, ele fugiu com tudo o que tinha. Ele se levantou, atravessou o Rio e voltou o seu rosto para a montanha de Gileade.

22No terceiro dia, disseram a Labão que Jacó havia fugido.

23Ele levou seus parentes consigo e o perseguiu por uma jornada de sete dias. Ele o alcançou na montanha de Gileade.

24Deus veio a Labão, o arameu, em um sonho de noite, e lhe disse: “Tenha cuidado para não falar com Jacó nem bem nem mal.”

25Labão alcançou Jacó. Ora, Jacó havia armado a sua tenda na montanha, e Labão com seus parentes acamparam na montanha de Gileade.

26Labão disse a Jacó: “O que você fez, que me enganou e levou minhas filhas como cativas da espada?

27Por que você fugiu em segredo, me enganou e não me disse nada, para que eu pudesse despedi-lo com alegria e com cânticos, com tamborim e com harpa;

28e não me permitiu beijar meus filhos e minhas filhas? Agora você agiu de forma tola.

29Está no poder da minha mão fazer-lhe mal, mas o Deus do seu pai falou comigo na noite passada, dizendo: 'Tenha cuidado para não falar com Jacó nem bem nem mal.'

30Agora, você quis ir embora, porque ansiava muito pela casa do seu pai, mas por que roubou os meus deuses?”

31Jacó respondeu a Labão: “Porque tive medo, pois pensei: 'Para que você não tire de mim as suas filhas à força.'

32Aquele com quem você encontrar os seus deuses não viverá. Diante dos nossos parentes, reconheça o que é seu comigo e leve-o.” Pois Jacó não sabia que Raquel os havia roubado.

33Labão entrou na tenda de Jacó, na tenda de Lia e na tenda das duas servas; mas não os encontrou. Ele saiu da tenda de Lia e entrou na tenda de Raquel.

34Ora, Raquel havia pegado os terafins, os colocado na sela do camelo e se sentado sobre eles. Labão apalpou toda a tenda, mas não os encontrou.

35Ela disse ao seu pai: “Não se ire o meu senhor por eu não poder me levantar diante de você; pois estou no meu período menstrual.” Ele procurou, mas não encontrou os terafins.

36Jacó ficou irado e discutiu com Labão. Jacó respondeu a Labão: “Qual é a minha transgressão? Qual é o meu pecado, para que você me persiga tão furiosamente?

37Agora que você apalpou todas as minhas coisas, o que encontrou de todos os objetos da sua casa? Coloque-o aqui diante dos meus parentes e dos seus parentes, para que eles julguem entre nós dois.

38“Nestes vinte anos que estive com você, as suas ovelhas e as suas cabras não abortaram, e eu não comi os carneiros dos seus rebanhos.

39Aquilo que foi despedaçado por animais, eu não trouxe a você. Eu arquei com a perda. Da minha mão você o exigia, fosse roubado de dia ou roubado de noite.

40Esta era a minha situação: de dia o calor me consumia, e de noite a geada; e o meu sono fugia dos meus olhos.

41Nestes vinte anos estive na sua casa. Eu o servi quatorze anos por suas duas filhas, e seis anos pelo seu rebanho, e você mudou o meu salário dez vezes.

42Se o Deus do meu pai, o Deus de Abraão e o Temor de Isaque, não estivesse comigo, certamente agora você me teria despedido de mãos vazias. Deus viu a minha aflição e o trabalho das minhas mãos, e o repreendeu na noite passada.”

43Labão respondeu a Jacó: “As filhas são minhas filhas, os filhos são meus filhos, os rebanhos são meus rebanhos, e tudo o que você vê é meu! O que posso fazer hoje a estas minhas filhas, ou aos filhos que elas deram à luz?

44Agora venha, façamos uma aliança, você e eu. Que ela sirva de testemunha entre mim e você.”

45Jacó pegou uma pedra e a ergueu como uma coluna.

46Jacó disse aos seus parentes: “Juntem pedras.” Eles pegaram pedras e fizeram um monte. Eles comeram ali junto ao monte.

47Labão o chamou de Jegar-Saaduta, mas Jacó o chamou de Galeede.

48Labão disse: “Este monte é testemunha entre mim e você hoje.” Por isso foi chamado de Galeede

49e Mispá, pois ele disse: “O SENHOR vigie entre mim e você, quando estivermos ausentes um do outro.

50Se você maltratar as minhas filhas, ou se tomar outras esposas além das minhas filhas, mesmo que nenhum homem esteja conosco; eis que Deus é testemunha entre mim e você.”

51Labão disse a Jacó: “Veja este monte, e veja a coluna que ergui entre mim e você.

52Que este monte seja uma testemunha, e a coluna seja uma testemunha, de que eu não passarei deste monte para o seu lado, e que você não passará deste monte e desta coluna para o meu lado, para fazer o mal.

53O Deus de Abraão, e o Deus de Naor, o Deus do pai deles, julgue entre nós.” Então Jacó jurou pelo Temor de seu pai, Isaque.

54Jacó ofereceu um sacrifício na montanha, e chamou seus parentes para comer pão. Eles comeram pão e passaram a noite na montanha.

55De manhã cedo, Labão se levantou, beijou seus filhos e suas filhas, e os abençoou. Labão partiu e voltou para o seu lugar.

1Jacob heard Laban’s sons’ words, saying, “Jacob has taken away all that was our father’s. He has obtained all this wealth from that which was our father’s.”

2Jacob saw the expression on Laban’s face, and, behold, it was not toward him as before.

3Yahweh said to Jacob, “Return to the land of your fathers, and to your relatives, and I will be with you.”

4Jacob sent and called Rachel and Leah to the field to his flock,

5and said to them, “I see the expression on your father’s face, that it is not toward me as before; but the God of my father has been with me.

6You know that I have served your father with all of my strength.

7Your father has deceived me, and changed my wages ten times, but God didn’t allow him to hurt me.

8If he said, ‘The speckled will be your wages,’ then all the flock bore speckled. If he said, ‘The streaked will be your wages,’ then all the flock bore streaked.

9Thus God has taken away your father’s livestock, and given them to me.

10During mating season, I lifted up my eyes, and saw in a dream, and behold, the male goats which leaped on the flock were streaked, speckled, and grizzled.

11The angel of God said to me in the dream, ‘Jacob,’ and I said, ‘Here I am.’

12He said, ‘Now lift up your eyes, and behold, all the male goats which leap on the flock are streaked, speckled, and grizzled, for I have seen all that Laban does to you.

13I am the God of Bethel, where you anointed a pillar, where you vowed a vow to me. Now arise, get out from this land, and return to the land of your birth.’”

14Rachel and Leah answered him, “Is there yet any portion or inheritance for us in our father’s house?

15Aren’t we considered as foreigners by him? For he has sold us, and has also used up our money.

16For all the riches which God has taken away from our father are ours and our children’s. Now then, whatever God has said to you, do.”

17Then Jacob rose up, and set his sons and his wives on the camels,

18and he took away all his livestock, and all his possessions which he had gathered, including the livestock which he had gained in Paddan Aram, to go to Isaac his father, to the land of Canaan.

19Now Laban had gone to shear his sheep; and Rachel stole the teraphim that were her father’s.

20Jacob deceived Laban the Syrian, in that he didn’t tell him that he was running away.

21So he fled with all that he had. He rose up, passed over the River, and set his face toward the mountain of Gilead.

22Laban was told on the third day that Jacob had fled.

23He took his relatives with him, and pursued him seven days’ journey. He overtook him in the mountain of Gilead.

24God came to Laban the Syrian in a dream of the night, and said to him, “Be careful that you don’t speak to Jacob either good or bad.”

25Laban caught up with Jacob. Now Jacob had pitched his tent in the mountain, and Laban with his relatives encamped in the mountain of Gilead.

26Laban said to Jacob, “What have you done, that you have deceived me, and carried away my daughters like captives of the sword?

27Why did you flee secretly, and deceive me, and didn’t tell me, that I might have sent you away with mirth and with songs, with tambourine and with harp;

28and didn’t allow me to kiss my sons and my daughters? Now you have done foolishly.

29It is in the power of my hand to hurt you, but the God of your father spoke to me last night, saying, ‘Be careful that you don’t speak to Jacob either good or bad.’

30Now, you want to be gone, because you greatly longed for your father’s house, but why have you stolen my gods?”

31Jacob answered Laban, “Because I was afraid, for I said, ‘Lest you should take your daughters from me by force.’

32Anyone you find your gods with shall not live. Before our relatives, discern what is yours with me, and take it.” For Jacob didn’t know that Rachel had stolen them.

33Laban went into Jacob’s tent, into Leah’s tent, and into the tent of the two female servants; but he didn’t find them. He went out of Leah’s tent, and entered into Rachel’s tent.

34Now Rachel had taken the teraphim, put them in the camel’s saddle, and sat on them. Laban felt around all the tent, but didn’t find them.

35She said to her father, “Don’t let my lord be angry that I can’t rise up before you; for I’m having my period.” He searched, but didn’t find the teraphim.

36Jacob was angry, and argued with Laban. Jacob answered Laban, “What is my trespass? What is my sin, that you have hotly pursued me?

37Now that you have felt around in all my stuff, what have you found of all your household stuff? Set it here before my relatives and your relatives, that they may judge between us two.

38“These twenty years I have been with you. Your ewes and your female goats have not cast their young, and I haven’t eaten the rams of your flocks.

39That which was torn of animals, I didn’t bring to you. I bore its loss. Of my hand you required it, whether stolen by day or stolen by night.

40This was my situation: in the day the drought consumed me, and the frost by night; and my sleep fled from my eyes.

41These twenty years I have been in your house. I served you fourteen years for your two daughters, and six years for your flock, and you have changed my wages ten times.

42Unless the God of my father, the God of Abraham, and the fear of Isaac, had been with me, surely now you would have sent me away empty. God has seen my affliction and the labor of my hands, and rebuked you last night.”

43Laban answered Jacob, “The daughters are my daughters, the children are my children, the flocks are my flocks, and all that you see is mine! What can I do today to these my daughters, or to their children whom they have borne?

44Now come, let’s make a covenant, you and I. Let it be for a witness between me and you.”

45Jacob took a stone, and set it up for a pillar.

46Jacob said to his relatives, “Gather stones.” They took stones, and made a heap. They ate there by the heap.

47Laban called it Jegar Sahadutha, but Jacob called it Galeed.

48Laban said, “This heap is witness between me and you today.” Therefore it was named Galeed

49and Mizpah, for he said, “Yahweh watch between me and you, when we are absent one from another.

50If you afflict my daughters, or if you take wives in addition to my daughters, no man is with us; behold, God is witness between me and you.”

51Laban said to Jacob, “See this heap, and see the pillar, which I have set between me and you.

52May this heap be a witness, and the pillar be a witness, that I will not pass over this heap to you, and that you will not pass over this heap and this pillar to me, for harm.

53The God of Abraham, and the God of Nahor, the God of their father, judge between us.” Then Jacob swore by the fear of his father, Isaac.

54Jacob offered a sacrifice in the mountain, and called his relatives to eat bread. They ate bread, and stayed all night in the mountain.

55Early in the morning, Laban rose up, and kissed his sons and his daughters, and blessed them. Laban departed and returned to his place.
