Gênesis 26— comparação

1Houve fome na terra, além da primeira fome que ocorreu nos dias de Abraão. Isaque foi a Abimeleque, rei dos filisteus, em Gerar.

2O SENHOR apareceu a ele e disse: “Não desça ao Egito. Habite na terra sobre a qual eu lhe falar.

3Habite nesta terra, e eu estarei com você e o abençoarei. Pois darei a você e à sua descendência todas estas terras, e confirmarei o juramento que fiz a Abraão, seu pai.

4Multiplicarei a sua descendência como as estrelas do céu e darei todas estas terras à sua descendência. Em sua descendência todas as nações da terra serão abençoadas,

5porque Abraão obedeceu à minha voz e guardou os meus preceitos, os meus mandamentos, os meus estatutos e as minhas leis.”

6Isaque habitou em Gerar.

7Os homens do lugar lhe perguntaram sobre a sua mulher. Ele disse: “Ela é minha irmã”, pois teve medo de dizer: “Minha mulher”, pensando: “para que os homens do lugar não me matem por causa de Rebeca, porque ela é formosa.”

8Quando ele já estava lá havia muito tempo, Abimeleque, rei dos filisteus, olhou por uma janela e viu, e eis que Isaque estava acariciando Rebeca, sua mulher.

9Abimeleque chamou Isaque e disse: “Eis que ela é certamente a sua mulher. Por que você disse: ‘Ela é minha irmã’?”

10Abimeleque disse: “O que é isso que você nos fez? Facilmente um do povo poderia ter se deitado com a sua mulher, e você teria trazido culpa sobre nós!”

11Então Abimeleque ordenou a todo o povo, dizendo: “Aquele que tocar neste homem ou em sua mulher certamente será morto.”

12Isaque semeou naquela terra e colheu, no mesmo ano, cem vezes mais do que plantou. O SENHOR o abençoou.

13O homem engrandeceu, e cresceu mais e mais até se tornar muito poderoso.

14Ele possuía rebanhos de ovelhas, rebanhos de gado e muitos servos. Os filisteus o invejavam.

15Ora, todos os poços que os servos de seu pai haviam cavado nos dias de Abraão, seu pai, os filisteus haviam entulhado e enchido de terra.

16Abimeleque disse a Isaque: “Vá embora do nosso meio, pois você é muito mais poderoso do que nós.”

17Isaque partiu dali, acampou no vale de Gerar e habitou lá.

18Isaque cavou novamente os poços de água que haviam sido cavados nos dias de Abraão, seu pai, pois os filisteus os haviam entulhado após a morte de Abraão. Ele lhes deu os mesmos nomes pelos quais seu pai os havia chamado.

19Os servos de Isaque cavaram no vale e encontraram ali um poço de água corrente.

20Os pastores de Gerar discutiram com os pastores de Isaque, dizendo: “A água é nossa.” Por isso ele chamou o nome do poço de Eseque, porque contenderam com ele.

21Cavaram outro poço, e também discutiram por causa dele. Por isso ele o chamou de Sitna.

22Ele partiu daquele lugar e cavou outro poço. Não discutiram por causa desse. Por isso ele o chamou de Reobote. Ele disse: “Porque agora o SENHOR abriu espaço para nós, e seremos frutíferos na terra.”

23Dali ele subiu para Berseba.

24O SENHOR apareceu a ele naquela mesma noite e disse: “Eu sou o Deus de Abraão, seu pai. Não tenha medo, pois eu estou com você, e o abençoarei, e multiplicarei a sua descendência por amor ao meu servo Abraão.”

25Ele construiu ali um altar, invocou o nome do SENHOR e armou a sua tenda ali. E ali os servos de Isaque cavaram um poço.

26Então Abimeleque foi a ele de Gerar, com Auzate, seu amigo, e Ficol, o comandante do seu exército.

27Isaque lhes perguntou: “Por que vocês vieram a mim, visto que me odeiam e me mandaram embora do seu meio?”

28Eles responderam: “Vimos claramente que o SENHOR estava com você. Por isso dissemos: ‘Haja agora um juramento entre nós, entre nós e você, e façamos uma aliança com você,

29de que você não nos fará mal, assim como nós não tocamos em você, e não lhe fizemos nada além do bem, e o despedimos em paz.’ Você agora é o abençoado do SENHOR.”

30Ele lhes preparou um banquete, e eles comeram e beberam.

31Levantaram-se de madrugada e fizeram juramentos um ao outro. Isaque os despediu, e eles partiram dele em paz.

32Naquele mesmo dia, os servos de Isaque vieram e lhe contaram a respeito do poço que haviam cavado, e lhe disseram: “Encontramos água.”

33Ele o chamou de “Siba”. Por isso o nome da cidade é “Berseba” até o dia de hoje.

34Quando Esaú tinha quarenta anos de idade, tomou por mulher a Judite, filha de Beeri, o heteu, e a Basemate, filha de Elom, o heteu.

35Elas trouxeram amargura de espírito a Isaque e a Rebeca.

1There was a famine in the land, in addition to the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. Isaac went to Abimelech king of the Philistines, to Gerar.

2Yahweh appeared to him, and said, “Don’t go down into Egypt. Live in the land I will tell you about.

3Live in this land, and I will be with you, and will bless you. For I will give to you, and to your offspring, all these lands, and I will establish the oath which I swore to Abraham your father.

4I will multiply your offspring as the stars of the sky, and will give all these lands to your offspring. In your offspring all the nations of the earth will be blessed,

5because Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my requirements, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.”

6Isaac lived in Gerar.

7The men of the place asked him about his wife. He said, “She is my sister,” for he was afraid to say, “My wife”, lest, he thought, “the men of the place might kill me for Rebekah, because she is beautiful to look at.”

8When he had been there a long time, Abimelech king of the Philistines looked out at a window, and saw, and, behold, Isaac was caressing Rebekah, his wife.

9Abimelech called Isaac, and said, “Behold, surely she is your wife. Why did you say, ‘She is my sister’?” Isaac said to him, “Because I said, ‘Lest I die because of her.’”

10Abimelech said, “What is this you have done to us? One of the people might easily have lain with your wife, and you would have brought guilt on us!”

11Abimelech commanded all the people, saying, “He who touches this man or his wife will surely be put to death.”

12Isaac sowed in that land, and reaped in the same year one hundred times what he planted. Yahweh blessed him.

13The man grew great, and grew more and more until he became very great.

14He had possessions of flocks, possessions of herds, and a great household. The Philistines envied him.

15Now all the wells which his father’s servants had dug in the days of Abraham his father, the Philistines had stopped, and filled with earth.

16Abimelech said to Isaac, “Go away from us, for you are much mightier than we.”

17Isaac departed from there, encamped in the valley of Gerar, and lived there.

18Isaac dug again the wells of water, which they had dug in the days of Abraham his father, for the Philistines had stopped them after the death of Abraham. He called their names after the names by which his father had called them.

19Isaac’s servants dug in the valley, and found there a well of flowing water.

20The herdsmen of Gerar argued with Isaac’s herdsmen, saying, “The water is ours.” So he called the name of the well Esek, because they contended with him.

21They dug another well, and they argued over that, also. So he called its name Sitnah.

22He left that place, and dug another well. They didn’t argue over that one. So he called it Rehoboth. He said, “For now Yahweh has made room for us, and we will be fruitful in the land.”

23He went up from there to Beersheba.

24Yahweh appeared to him the same night, and said, “I am the God of Abraham your father. Don’t be afraid, for I am with you, and will bless you, and multiply your offspring for my servant Abraham’s sake.”

25He built an altar there, and called on Yahweh’s name, and pitched his tent there. There Isaac’s servants dug a well.

26Then Abimelech went to him from Gerar with Ahuzzath his friend, and Phicol the captain of his army.

27Isaac said to them, “Why have you come to me, since you hate me, and have sent me away from you?”

28They said, “We saw plainly that Yahweh was with you. We said, ‘Let there now be an oath between us, even between us and you, and let’s make a covenant with you,

29that you will do us no harm, as we have not touched you, and as we have done to you nothing but good, and have sent you away in peace.’ You are now the blessed of Yahweh.”

30He made them a feast, and they ate and drank.

31They rose up some time in the morning, and swore an oath to one another. Isaac sent them away, and they departed from him in peace.

32The same day, Isaac’s servants came, and told him concerning the well which they had dug, and said to him, “We have found water.”

33He called it “Shibah”. Therefore the name of the city is “Beersheba” to this day.

34When Esau was forty years old, he took as wife Judith, the daughter of Beeri the Hittite, and Basemath, the daughter of Elon the Hittite.

35They grieved Isaac’s and Rebekah’s spirits.
