Gênesis 11— comparação

1Toda a terra tinha uma só língua e uma só fala.

2Ao viajarem para o oriente, encontraram uma planície na terra de Sinar, e ali habitaram.

3Disseram uns aos outros: “Venham, vamos fazer tijolos e queimá-los bem.” Eles tinham tijolos em vez de pedras, e usavam piche como argamassa.

4Disseram: “Venham, vamos construir para nós uma cidade e uma torre cujo topo chegue até o céu, e vamos fazer um nome para nós, para que não sejamos espalhados sobre a face de toda a terra.”

5O SENHOR desceu para ver a cidade e a torre que os filhos dos homens construíam.

6O SENHOR disse: “Eis que eles são um só povo, e todos têm uma só língua; e isso é o que começam a fazer. Agora, nada do que pretendem fazer lhes será impedido.

7Venham, vamos descer e confundir ali a língua deles, para que não entendam a fala uns dos outros.”

8Assim, o SENHOR os espalhou dali sobre a face de toda a terra. E eles pararam de construir a cidade.

9Por isso, o seu nome foi chamado Babel, porque ali o SENHOR confundiu a língua de toda a terra. Dali, o SENHOR os espalhou sobre a face de toda a terra.

10Esta é a história das gerações de Sem: Sem tinha cem anos de idade quando gerou a Arfaxade, dois anos depois do dilúvio.

11Sem viveu quinhentos anos depois que gerou a Arfaxade, e gerou outros filhos e filhas.

12Arfaxade viveu trinta e cinco anos, e gerou a Selá.

25Naor viveu cento e dezenove anos depois que gerou a Terá, e gerou outros filhos e filhas.

26Terá viveu setenta anos, e gerou a Abrão, a Naor e a Harã.

27Ora, esta é a história das gerações de Terá. Terá gerou a Abrão, a Naor e a Harã. Harã gerou a Ló.

28Harã morreu na terra do seu nascimento, em Ur dos Caldeus, enquanto seu pai Terá ainda estava vivo.

29Abrão e Naor tomaram esposas para si. O nome da esposa de Abrão era Sarai, e o nome da esposa de Naor era Milca, filha de Harã, que também foi o pai de Isca.

30Sarai era estéril. Ela não tinha filhos.

31Terá tomou seu filho Abrão, seu neto Ló, filho de Harã, e sua nora Sarai, esposa de seu filho Abrão. Eles saíram de Ur dos Caldeus para ir à terra de Canaã. Chegaram a Harã e habitaram ali.

32Os dias de Terá foram duzentos e cinco anos. Terá morreu em Harã.

6Yahweh said, “Behold, they are one people, and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do. Now nothing will be withheld from them, which they intend to do.

7Come, let’s go down, and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.”

8So Yahweh scattered them abroad from there on the surface of all the earth. They stopped building the city.

18Peleg lived thirty years, and became the father of Reu.

19Peleg lived two hundred nine years after he became the father of Reu, and became the father of more sons and daughters.

20Reu lived thirty-two years, and became the father of Serug.

21Reu lived two hundred seven years after he became the father of Serug, and became the father of more sons and daughters.

22Serug lived thirty years, and became the father of Nahor.

23Serug lived two hundred years after he became the father of Nahor, and became the father of more sons and daughters.

24Nahor lived twenty-nine years, and became the father of Terah.

25Nahor lived one hundred nineteen years after he became the father of Terah, and became the father of more sons and daughters.

26Terah lived seventy years, and became the father of Abram, Nahor, and Haran.

27Now this is the history of the generations of Terah. Terah became the father of Abram, Nahor, and Haran. Haran became the father of Lot.

28Haran died in the land of his birth, in Ur of the Chaldees, while his father Terah was still alive.

29Abram and Nahor married wives. The name of Abram’s wife was Sarai, and the name of Nahor’s wife was Milcah, the daughter of Haran, who was also the father of Iscah.

30Sarai was barren. She had no child.

31Terah took Abram his son, Lot the son of Haran, his son’s son, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, his son Abram’s wife. They went from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan. They came to Haran and lived there.

32The days of Terah were two hundred five years. Terah died in Haran.
