Êxodo 5— comparação

1Depois disso, Moisés e Arão vieram e disseram a Faraó: “Assim diz o SENHOR, o Deus de Israel: 'Deixe o meu povo ir, para que me celebrem uma festa no deserto.'”

2Faraó disse: “Quem é o SENHOR, para que eu ouça a sua voz e deixe Israel ir? Eu não conheço o SENHOR, e além disso, não deixarei Israel ir.”

3Eles disseram: “O Deus dos hebreus veio ao nosso encontro. Por favor, deixe-nos ir a uma jornada de três dias no deserto, e oferecer sacrifícios ao SENHOR, nosso Deus, para que ele não venha sobre nós com peste ou com espada.”

4O rei do Egito lhes disse: “Por que vocês, Moisés e Arão, desviam o povo do seu trabalho? Voltem para as suas cargas!”

5Faraó disse: “Vejam, o povo da terra agora é muito numeroso, e vocês os fazem descansar de suas cargas.”

6Naquele mesmo dia, Faraó deu ordens aos feitores do povo e aos seus oficiais, dizendo:

7“Vocês não darão mais palha ao povo para fazer tijolos, como antes. Deixem que eles mesmos vão e ajuntem palha para si.

8Exigirão deles a mesma quantidade de tijolos que faziam antes. Não diminuirão nada dela, pois eles estão ociosos. É por isso que clamam, dizendo: 'Vamos e ofereçamos sacrifícios ao nosso Deus.'

9Que se imponha um trabalho mais pesado sobre os homens, para que se ocupem nele. Não deixem que deem atenção a palavras mentirosas.”

10Os feitores do povo saíram com os seus oficiais, e falaram ao povo, dizendo: “Assim diz Faraó: 'Eu não lhes darei palha.

11Vão vocês mesmos, consigam palha onde puderem encontrá-la, pois nada do trabalho de vocês será diminuído.'”

12Então o povo se espalhou por toda a terra do Egito para ajuntar restolho em lugar de palha.

13Os feitores os pressionavam, dizendo: “Cumpram a sua cota diária de trabalho, como quando havia palha!”

14Os oficiais dos filhos de Israel, que os feitores de Faraó haviam colocado sobre eles, foram espancados e questionados: “Por que vocês não cumpriram a sua cota de fazer tijolos, nem ontem nem hoje, como antes?”

15Então os oficiais dos filhos de Israel vieram e clamaram a Faraó, dizendo: “Por que você trata os seus servos desta maneira?

16Nenhuma palha é dada aos seus servos, e eles nos dizem: 'Façam tijolos!' E veja, os seus servos são espancados; mas a culpa é do seu próprio povo.”

17Mas Faraó disse: “Vocês estão ociosos! Vocês estão ociosos! Por isso dizem: 'Vamos e ofereçamos sacrifícios ao SENHOR.'

18Portanto, vão agora e trabalhem; pois nenhuma palha lhes será dada; contudo, vocês deverão entregar a mesma quantidade de tijolos!”

19Os oficiais dos filhos de Israel viram que estavam em apuros quando lhes foi dito: “Vocês não diminuirão nada da sua cota diária de tijolos!”

20Eles encontraram Moisés e Arão, que estavam no caminho, ao saírem da presença de Faraó.

21Eles lhes disseram: “Que o SENHOR olhe para vocês e os julgue, porque vocês nos fizeram exalar mau cheiro aos olhos de Faraó e aos olhos dos seus servos, colocando uma espada na mão deles para nos matar!”

22Moisés voltou ao SENHOR e disse: “Senhor, por que trouxeste mal sobre este povo? Por que me enviaste?

23Pois desde que me apresentei a Faraó para falar em teu nome, ele tem trazido mal sobre este povo. E tu não resgataste o teu povo de forma alguma!”

1Afterward Moses and Aaron came, and said to Pharaoh, “This is what Yahweh, the God of Israel, says, ‘Let my people go, that they may hold a feast to me in the wilderness.’”

2Pharaoh said, “Who is Yahweh, that I should listen to his voice to let Israel go? I don’t know Yahweh, and moreover I will not let Israel go.”

3They said, “The God of the Hebrews has met with us. Please let us go three days’ journey into the wilderness, and sacrifice to Yahweh, our God, lest he fall on us with pestilence, or with the sword.”

4The king of Egypt said to them, “Why do you, Moses and Aaron, take the people from their work? Get back to your burdens!”

5Pharaoh said, “Behold, the people of the land are now many, and you make them rest from their burdens.”

6The same day Pharaoh commanded the taskmasters of the people and their officers, saying,

7“You shall no longer give the people straw to make brick, as before. Let them go and gather straw for themselves.

8You shall require from them the number of the bricks which they made before. You shall not diminish anything of it, for they are idle. Therefore they cry, saying, ‘Let’s go and sacrifice to our God.’

9Let heavier work be laid on the men, that they may labor in it. Don’t let them pay any attention to lying words.”

10The taskmasters of the people went out with their officers, and they spoke to the people, saying, “This is what Pharaoh says: ‘I will not give you straw.

11Go yourselves, get straw where you can find it, for nothing of your work shall be diminished.’”

12So the people were scattered abroad throughout all the land of Egypt to gather stubble for straw.

13The taskmasters were urgent saying, “Fulfill your work quota daily, as when there was straw!”

14The officers of the children of Israel, whom Pharaoh’s taskmasters had set over them, were beaten, and were asked, “Why haven’t you fulfilled your quota both yesterday and today, in making brick as before?”

15Then the officers of the children of Israel came and cried to Pharaoh, saying, “Why do you deal this way with your servants?

16No straw is given to your servants, and they tell us, ‘Make brick!’ and behold, your servants are beaten; but the fault is in your own people.”

17But Pharaoh said, “You are idle! You are idle! Therefore you say, ‘Let’s go and sacrifice to Yahweh.’

18Go therefore now, and work; for no straw shall be given to you; yet you shall deliver the same number of bricks!”

19The officers of the children of Israel saw that they were in trouble when it was said, “You shall not diminish anything from your daily quota of bricks!”

20They met Moses and Aaron, who stood along the way, as they came out from Pharaoh.

21They said to them, “May Yahweh look at you and judge, because you have made us a stench to be abhorred in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of his servants, to put a sword in their hand to kill us!”

22Moses returned to Yahweh, and said, “Lord, why have you brought trouble on this people? Why is it that you have sent me?

23For since I came to Pharaoh to speak in your name, he has brought trouble on this people. You have not rescued your people at all!”
