Êxodo 10— comparação

1O SENHOR disse a Moisés: “Vá ao Faraó, pois eu endureci o seu coração e o coração dos seus servos, para que eu possa mostrar estes meus sinais entre eles;

2e para que você conte aos ouvidos do seu filho, e do filho do seu filho, as coisas que fiz ao Egito, e os meus sinais que realizei entre eles; para que vocês saibam que eu sou o SENHOR.”

3Moisés e Arão foram ao Faraó e lhe disseram: “Assim diz o SENHOR, o Deus dos hebreus: 'Até quando você se recusará a humilhar-se diante de mim? Deixe o meu povo ir, para que me sirva.

4Do contrário, se você se recusar a deixar o meu povo ir, eis que amanhã trarei gafanhotos sobre o seu país,

5e eles cobrirão a superfície da terra, de modo que não se poderá ver o chão. Eles comerão o resto do que escapou, o que lhes sobrou do granizo, e comerão toda árvore que cresce para vocês no campo.

6Suas casas ficarão cheias, bem como as casas de todos os seus servos e as casas de todos os egípcios, como nem seus pais nem os pais de seus pais jamais viram, desde o dia em que estiveram na terra até o dia de hoje.'” Ele virou-se e saiu da presença do Faraó.

7Os servos do Faraó lhe disseram: “Até quando este homem será uma armadilha para nós? Deixe os homens irem, para que sirvam ao SENHOR, o Deus deles. Você ainda não sabe que o Egito está destruído?”

8Moisés e Arão foram trazidos novamente ao Faraó, e ele lhes disse: “Vão, sirvam ao SENHOR, seu Deus; mas quem são os que irão?”

9Moisés disse: “Iremos com os nossos jovens e com os nossos velhos. Iremos com os nossos filhos e com as nossas filhas, com os nossos rebanhos e com o nosso gado; pois devemos celebrar uma festa ao SENHOR.”

10Ele lhes disse: “Que o SENHOR esteja com vocês se eu os deixar ir com as suas crianças! Vejam, o mal está claramente diante dos seus rostos.

11Nada disso! Vão agora vocês que são homens, e sirvam ao SENHOR; pois é isso que vocês desejam!” Então eles foram expulsos da presença do Faraó.

12O SENHOR disse a Moisés: “Estenda a sua mão sobre a terra do Egito para que venham os gafanhotos, para que subam sobre a terra do Egito e comam toda a erva da terra, tudo o que o granizo deixou.”

13Moisés estendeu a sua vara sobre a terra do Egito, e o SENHOR trouxe um vento leste sobre a terra durante todo aquele dia e toda aquela noite; e quando amanheceu, o vento leste trouxe os gafanhotos.

14Os gafanhotos subiram sobre toda a terra do Egito, e pousaram em todo o território do Egito. Eles foram muito severos. Antes deles não houve gafanhotos como eles, nem jamais haverá.

15Pois eles cobriram a superfície de toda a terra, de modo que a terra escureceu, e comeram toda a erva da terra, e todo o fruto das árvores que o granizo havia deixado. Não restou nada verde, nem árvore nem erva do campo, em toda a terra do Egito.

16Então o Faraó chamou Moisés e Arão apressadamente, e disse: “Pequei contra o SENHOR, seu Deus, e contra vocês.

17Agora, portanto, por favor, perdoem o meu pecado mais uma vez, e orem ao SENHOR, seu Deus, para que ele também afaste de mim esta morte.”

18Moisés saiu da presença do Faraó e orou ao SENHOR.

19O SENHOR enviou um vento oeste extremamente forte, que levantou os gafanhotos e os lançou no Mar Vermelho. Não restou um só gafanhoto em todo o território do Egito.

20Mas o SENHOR endureceu o coração do Faraó, e ele não deixou os filhos de Israel irem.

21O SENHOR disse a Moisés: “Estenda a sua mão para o céu, para que haja trevas sobre a terra do Egito, trevas que se possam apalpar.”

22Moisés estendeu a sua mão para o céu, e houve densas trevas em toda a terra do Egito por três dias.

23Eles não viam uns aos outros, e ninguém se levantou do seu lugar por três dias; mas todos os filhos de Israel tinham luz em suas habitações.

24O Faraó chamou a Moisés e disse: “Vão, sirvam ao SENHOR. Apenas deixem para trás os seus rebanhos e o seu gado. Deixem que as suas crianças também vão com vocês.”

25Moisés disse: “Você também deve entregar em nossas mãos sacrifícios e holocaustos, para que possamos oferecer sacrifícios ao SENHOR, nosso Deus.

26O nosso gado também irá conosco. Nem um casco ficará para trás, pois dele devemos tirar para servir ao SENHOR, nosso Deus; e não sabemos com o que devemos servir ao SENHOR, até chegarmos lá.”

27Mas o SENHOR endureceu o coração do Faraó, e ele não quis deixá-los ir.

28O Faraó lhe disse: “Afaste-se de mim! Tenha o cuidado de não ver mais o meu rosto; pois no dia em que você vir o meu rosto, você morrerá!”

29Moisés disse: “Você falou bem. Eu não verei mais o seu rosto.”

1Yahweh said to Moses, “Go in to Pharaoh, for I have hardened his heart and the heart of his servants, that I may show these my signs among them;

2and that you may tell in the hearing of your son, and of your son’s son, what things I have done to Egypt, and my signs which I have done among them; that you may know that I am Yahweh.”

3Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh, and said to him, “This is what Yahweh, the God of the Hebrews, says: ‘How long will you refuse to humble yourself before me? Let my people go, that they may serve me.

4Or else, if you refuse to let my people go, behold, tomorrow I will bring locusts into your country,

5and they shall cover the surface of the earth, so that one won’t be able to see the earth. They shall eat the residue of that which has escaped, which remains to you from the hail, and shall eat every tree which grows for you out of the field.

6Your houses shall be filled, and the houses of all your servants, and the houses of all the Egyptians, as neither your fathers nor your fathers’ fathers have seen, since the day that they were on the earth to this day.’” He turned, and went out from Pharaoh.

7Pharaoh’s servants said to him, “How long will this man be a snare to us? Let the men go, that they may serve Yahweh, their God. Don’t you yet know that Egypt is destroyed?”

8Moses and Aaron were brought again to Pharaoh, and he said to them, “Go, serve Yahweh your God; but who are those who will go?”

9Moses said, “We will go with our young and with our old. We will go with our sons and with our daughters, with our flocks and with our herds; for we must hold a feast to Yahweh.”

10He said to them, “Yahweh be with you if I let you go with your little ones! See, evil is clearly before your faces.

11Not so! Go now you who are men, and serve Yahweh; for that is what you desire!” Then they were driven out from Pharaoh’s presence.

12Yahweh said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand over the land of Egypt for the locusts, that they may come up on the land of Egypt, and eat every herb of the land, even all that the hail has left.”

13Moses stretched out his rod over the land of Egypt, and Yahweh brought an east wind on the land all that day, and all night; and when it was morning, the east wind brought the locusts.

14The locusts went up over all the land of Egypt, and rested in all the borders of Egypt. They were very grievous. Before them there were no such locusts as they, nor will there ever be again.

15For they covered the surface of the whole earth, so that the land was darkened, and they ate every herb of the land, and all the fruit of the trees which the hail had left. There remained nothing green, either tree or herb of the field, through all the land of Egypt.

16Then Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron in haste, and he said, “I have sinned against Yahweh your God, and against you.

17Now therefore please forgive my sin again, and pray to Yahweh your God, that he may also take away from me this death.”

18Moses went out from Pharaoh, and prayed to Yahweh.

19Yahweh sent an exceedingly strong west wind, which took up the locusts, and drove them into the Red Sea. There remained not one locust in all the borders of Egypt.

20But Yahweh hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he didn’t let the children of Israel go.

21Yahweh said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand toward the sky, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, even darkness which may be felt.”

22Moses stretched out his hand toward the sky, and there was a thick darkness in all the land of Egypt for three days.

23They didn’t see one another, and nobody rose from his place for three days; but all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings.

24Pharaoh called to Moses, and said, “Go, serve Yahweh. Only let your flocks and your herds stay behind. Let your little ones also go with you.”

25Moses said, “You must also give into our hand sacrifices and burnt offerings, that we may sacrifice to Yahweh our God.

26Our livestock also shall go with us. Not a hoof shall be left behind, for of it we must take to serve Yahweh our God; and we don’t know with what we must serve Yahweh, until we come there.”

27But Yahweh hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he wouldn’t let them go.

28Pharaoh said to him, “Get away from me! Be careful to see my face no more; for in the day you see my face you shall die!”

29Moses said, “You have spoken well. I will see your face again no more.”
