Ageu 1— comparação

1No segundo ano de Dario o rei, no sexto mês, no primeiro dia do mês, a palavra de Javé veio por Ageu, o profeta, a Zorobabel, filho de Shealtiel, governador de Judá, e a Josué, filho de Jehozadak, o sumo sacerdote, dizendo:

2“Isto é o que diz Javé dos Exércitos: Estas pessoas dizem: “Ainda não chegou a hora, a hora da construção da casa de Yahweh”.

3Então a palavra de Javé veio por Haggai, o profeta, dizendo:

4“É um momento para vocês mesmos morarem em suas casas em painéis, enquanto esta casa é um desperdício?

5Agora, portanto, é isto que Javé dos Exércitos diz: “Considerem seus caminhos.

6Vocês semearam muito, e trazem pouco. Vocês comem, mas não têm o suficiente. Você bebe, mas não está cheio de bebida. Vocês se vestem, mas ninguém está quente; e quem ganha salário, ganha salário para colocá-los em uma bolsa com buracos”.

7“Isto é o que diz Yahweh dos Exércitos: “Considere seus caminhos.

8Vá até a montanha, traga madeira e construa a casa. Terei prazer nisso e serei glorificado”, diz Yahweh.

9“Você procurou muito, e eis que chegou a pouco; e quando você a trouxe para casa, eu a explodi”. Por que”, diz Yahweh dos Exércitos, “Por causa da minha casa que jaz desperdício, enquanto cada um de vocês está ocupado com sua própria casa”.

10Portanto, para vosso bem, os céus retêm o orvalho, e a terra retém seus frutos.

11Eu pedi uma seca na terra, nas montanhas, nos grãos, no vinho novo, no óleo, naquilo que o solo produz, nos homens, no gado, e em todo o trabalho das mãos”.

12Então Zerubabel, filho de Shealtiel, e Josué, filho de Jehozadak, o sumo sacerdote, com todo o restante do povo, obedeceram a Javé sua voz de Deus, e as palavras de Ageu, o profeta, como Javé seu Deus o havia enviado; e o povo temia a Javé.

13Então Haggai, mensageiro de Javé, falou a mensagem de Javé ao povo, dizendo: “Eu estou com você”, diz Javé.

14Javé despertou o espírito de Zorobabel, filho de Shealtiel, governador de Judá, e o espírito de Josué, filho de Jehozadak, sumo sacerdote, e o espírito de todo o resto do povo; e eles vieram e trabalharam na casa de Javé dos Exércitos, seu Deus,

15no vigésimo quarto dia do mês, no sexto mês, no segundo ano de Dario, o rei.

1In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first day of the month, Yahweh’s word came by Haggai the prophet, to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, saying,

2“This is what Yahweh of Armies says: These people say, ‘The time hasn’t yet come, the time for Yahweh’s house to be built.’”

3Then Yahweh’s word came by Haggai the prophet, saying,

4“Is it a time for you yourselves to dwell in your paneled houses, while this house lies waste?

5Now therefore this is what Yahweh of Armies says: ‘Consider your ways.

6You have sown much, and bring in little. You eat, but you don’t have enough. You drink, but you aren’t filled with drink. You clothe yourselves, but no one is warm; and he who earns wages earns wages to put them into a bag with holes in it.’

7“This is what Yahweh of Armies says: ‘Consider your ways.

8Go up to the mountain, bring wood, and build the house. I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified,” says Yahweh.

9“You looked for much, and, behold, it came to little; and when you brought it home, I blew it away. Why?” says Yahweh of Armies, “Because of my house that lies waste, while each of you is busy with his own house.

10Therefore for your sake the heavens withhold the dew, and the earth withholds its fruit.

11I called for a drought on the land, on the mountains, on the grain, on the new wine, on the oil, on that which the ground produces, on men, on livestock, and on all the labor of the hands.”

12Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel and Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, obeyed Yahweh their God’s voice, and the words of Haggai the prophet, as Yahweh their God had sent him; and the people feared Yahweh.

13Then Haggai, Yahweh’s messenger, spoke Yahweh’s message to the people, saying, “I am with you,” says Yahweh.

14Yahweh stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and worked on the house of Yahweh of Armies, their God,

15in the twenty-fourth day of the month, in the sixth month, in the second year of Darius the king.
