2 Crônicas 6— comparação

1Então Salomão disse: “O SENHOR disse que habitaria nas densas trevas.

2Mas eu construí uma casa e um lar para ti, um lugar para habitares para sempre.”

3O rei virou o rosto e abençoou toda a assembleia de Israel; e toda a assembleia de Israel estava de pé.

4Ele disse: “Bendito seja o SENHOR, o Deus de Israel, que falou com a sua boca a Davi, meu pai, e com as suas mãos o cumpriu, dizendo:

5‘Desde o dia em que tirei o meu povo da terra do Egito, não escolhi cidade alguma entre todas as tribos de Israel para nela construir uma casa, para que o meu nome estivesse ali, e não escolhi homem algum para ser líder sobre o meu povo Israel;

6mas agora escolhi Jerusalém, para que o meu nome esteja ali; e escolhi Davi para estar sobre o meu povo Israel.’

7Ora, estava no coração de Davi, meu pai, construir uma casa para o nome do SENHOR, o Deus de Israel.

8Mas o SENHOR disse a Davi, meu pai: ‘Como estava em seu coração construir uma casa para o meu nome, você fez bem em ter isso em seu coração;

9contudo, você não construirá a casa, mas o seu filho, que será gerado por você, ele construirá a casa para o meu nome.’

10“O SENHOR cumpriu a sua palavra que falou; pois eu me levantei no lugar de Davi, meu pai, e me assento no trono de Israel, como o SENHOR prometeu, e construí a casa para o nome do SENHOR, o Deus de Israel.

11Lá coloquei a arca, na qual está a aliança do SENHOR, que ele fez com os filhos de Israel.”

12Ele se colocou diante do altar do SENHOR, na presença de toda a assembleia de Israel, e estendeu as suas mãos

13(pois Salomão tinha feito uma plataforma de bronze, de cinco côvados de comprimento, cinco côvados de largura e três côvados de altura, e a tinha colocado no meio do pátio; ele ficou em pé sobre ela, ajoelhou-se diante de toda a assembleia de Israel e estendeu as suas mãos para o céu).

14Então ele disse: “Ó SENHOR, Deus de Israel, não há Deus como tu nos céus ou na terra — tu que guardas a aliança e o amor leal para com os teus servos que andam diante de ti de todo o coração;

15que cumpriste para com o teu servo Davi, meu pai, aquilo que lhe prometeste. Sim, tu falaste com a tua boca, e com a tua mão o cumpriste, como se vê neste dia.

16“Agora, pois, ó SENHOR, Deus de Israel, cumpre para com o teu servo Davi, meu pai, aquilo que lhe prometeste, dizendo: ‘Nunca te faltará um homem diante de mim para se assentar no trono de Israel, desde que os teus filhos guardem o seu caminho, para andarem na minha lei como tu andaste diante de mim.’

17Agora, pois, ó SENHOR, Deus de Israel, que se confirme a tua palavra, que falaste ao teu servo Davi.

18“Mas será que Deus realmente habitará com os homens na terra? Eis que os céus e os céus dos céus não podem te conter; quanto menos esta casa que eu construí!

19Ainda assim, atenta para a oração do teu servo e para a sua súplica, ó SENHOR, meu Deus, para ouvires o clamor e a oração que o teu servo faz diante de ti;

20para que os teus olhos estejam abertos dia e noite para esta casa, para o lugar onde disseste que colocarias o teu nome, para ouvires a oração que o teu servo fará voltado para este lugar.

21Ouve as súplicas do teu servo e do teu povo Israel, quando orarem voltados para este lugar. Sim, ouve do teu lugar de habitação, dos céus; e, quando ouvires, perdoa.

22“Se um homem pecar contra o seu próximo, e lhe for exigido um juramento para fazê-lo jurar, e ele vier e jurar diante do teu altar nesta casa,

23então ouve dos céus, age e julga os teus servos, retribuindo ao ímpio, para trazer o seu proceder sobre a sua própria cabeça; e justificando o justo, para lhe retribuir de acordo com a sua justiça.

24“Se o teu povo Israel for derrotado diante do inimigo por ter pecado contra ti, e eles se voltarem novamente e confessarem o teu nome, e orarem e fizerem súplicas diante de ti nesta casa,

25então ouve dos céus, perdoa o pecado do teu povo Israel e traze-os de volta à terra que deste a eles e aos seus pais.

26“Quando o céu se fechar e não houver chuva porque pecaram contra ti, se eles orarem voltados para este lugar e confessarem o teu nome, e se desviarem do seu pecado quando tu os afligires,

27então ouve nos céus e perdoa o pecado dos teus servos, do teu povo Israel, ensinando-lhes o bom caminho em que devem andar, e envia chuva sobre a tua terra, que deste ao teu povo por herança.

28“Se houver fome na terra, se houver peste, se houver ferrugem ou mofo, gafanhotos ou lagartas; se os seus inimigos os cercarem na terra das suas cidades; qualquer que seja a praga ou qualquer que seja a doença que houver —

29toda oração e súplica que for feita por qualquer homem, ou por todo o teu povo Israel, conhecendo cada um a sua própria praga e a sua própria dor, e estendendo as suas mãos para esta casa,

30então ouve dos céus, o teu lugar de habitação, e perdoa, e dá a cada homem de acordo com todos os seus caminhos, cujo coração tu conheces (pois tu, somente tu, conheces os corações dos filhos dos homens),

31para que eles te temam, para andarem nos teus caminhos todos os dias em que viverem na terra que deste aos nossos pais.

32“Além disso, quanto ao estrangeiro, que não é do teu povo Israel, quando ele vier de uma terra distante por causa do teu grande nome, da tua mão poderosa e do teu braço estendido, quando eles vierem e orarem voltados para esta casa,

33então ouve dos céus, do teu lugar de habitação, e faze de acordo com tudo o que o estrangeiro te pedir; para que todos os povos da terra conheçam o teu nome e te temam, assim como faz o teu povo Israel, e para que saibam que esta casa que eu construí é chamada pelo teu nome.

34“Se o teu povo sair para a batalha contra os seus inimigos, por qualquer caminho que tu os enviares, e eles orarem a ti voltados para esta cidade que escolheste, e para a casa que construí para o teu nome;

35então ouve dos céus a sua oração e a sua súplica, e defende a sua causa.

36“Se eles pecarem contra ti (pois não há homem que não peque), e tu te indignares contra eles e os entregares ao inimigo, de modo que os levem cativos para uma terra distante ou próxima;

37ainda assim, se eles caírem em si na terra para onde foram levados cativos, e se voltarem novamente, e te fizerem súplicas na terra do seu cativeiro, dizendo: ‘Nós pecamos, agimos perversamente e cometemos iniquidade;’

38se eles se voltarem para ti de todo o seu coração e de toda a sua alma na terra do seu cativeiro, para onde foram levados cativos, e orarem voltados para a sua terra, que deste aos seus pais, e para a cidade que escolheste, e para a casa que construí para o teu nome;

39então ouve dos céus, do teu lugar de habitação, a sua oração e as suas súplicas, defende a sua causa e perdoa o teu povo que pecou contra ti.

40“Agora, meu Deus, eu te peço, que os teus olhos estejam abertos e que os teus ouvidos estejam atentos à oração que é feita neste lugar.

41“Agora, pois, levanta-te, ó SENHOR Deus, para o teu lugar de descanso, tu e a arca do teu poder. Que os teus sacerdotes, ó SENHOR Deus, estejam vestidos de salvação, e que os teus santos se alegrem na bondade.

42“Ó SENHOR Deus, não rejeites o rosto do teu ungido. Lembra-te do teu amor leal para com Davi, teu servo.”

1Then Solomon said, “Yahweh has said that he would dwell in the thick darkness.

2But I have built you a house and home, a place for you to dwell in forever.”

3The king turned his face, and blessed all the assembly of Israel; and all the assembly of Israel stood.

4He said, “Blessed be Yahweh, the God of Israel, who spoke with his mouth to David my father, and has with his hands fulfilled it, saying,

5‘Since the day that I brought my people out of the land of Egypt, I chose no city out of all the tribes of Israel to build a house in, that my name might be there, and I chose no man to be prince over my people Israel;

6but now I have chosen Jerusalem, that my name might be there; and I have chosen David to be over my people Israel.’

7Now it was in the heart of David my father to build a house for the name of Yahweh, the God of Israel.

8But Yahweh said to David my father, ‘Whereas it was in your heart to build a house for my name, you did well that it was in your heart;

9nevertheless you shall not build the house, but your son who will come out of your body, he shall build the house for my name.’

10“Yahweh has performed his word that he spoke; for I have risen up in the place of David my father, and sit on the throne of Israel, as Yahweh promised, and have built the house for the name of Yahweh, the God of Israel.

11There I have set the ark, in which is Yahweh’s covenant, which he made with the children of Israel.”

12He stood before Yahweh’s altar in the presence of all the assembly of Israel, and spread out his hands

13(for Solomon had made a bronze platform, five cubits long, five cubits wide, and three cubits high, and had set it in the middle of the court; and he stood on it, and knelt down on his knees before all the assembly of Israel, and spread out his hands toward heaven).

14Then he said, “Yahweh, the God of Israel, there is no God like you in heaven or on earth—you who keep covenant and loving kindness with your servants who walk before you with all their heart;

15who have kept with your servant David my father that which you promised him. Yes, you spoke with your mouth, and have fulfilled it with your hand, as it is today.

16“Now therefore, Yahweh, the God of Israel, keep with your servant David my father that which you have promised him, saying, ‘There shall not fail you a man in my sight to sit on the throne of Israel, if only your children take heed to their way, to walk in my law as you have walked before me.’

17Now therefore, Yahweh, the God of Israel, let your word be verified, which you spoke to your servant David.

18“But will God indeed dwell with men on the earth? Behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens can’t contain you; how much less this house which I have built!

19Yet have respect for the prayer of your servant and to his supplication, Yahweh my God, to listen to the cry and to the prayer which your servant prays before you;

20that your eyes may be open toward this house day and night, even toward the place where you have said that you would put your name, to listen to the prayer which your servant will pray toward this place.

21Listen to the petitions of your servant and of your people Israel, when they pray toward this place. Yes, hear from your dwelling place, even from heaven; and when you hear, forgive.

22“If a man sins against his neighbor, and an oath is laid on him to cause him to swear, and he comes and swears before your altar in this house,

23then hear from heaven, act, and judge your servants, bringing retribution to the wicked, to bring his way on his own head; and justifying the righteous, to give him according to his righteousness.

24“If your people Israel are struck down before the enemy because they have sinned against you, and they turn again and confess your name, and pray and make supplication before you in this house,

25then hear from heaven, and forgive the sin of your people Israel, and bring them again to the land which you gave to them and to their fathers.

26“When the sky is shut up and there is no rain because they have sinned against you, if they pray toward this place and confess your name, and turn from their sin when you afflict them,

27then hear in heaven, and forgive the sin of your servants, your people Israel, when you teach them the good way in which they should walk, and send rain on your land, which you have given to your people for an inheritance.

28“If there is famine in the land, if there is pestilence, if there is blight or mildew, locust or caterpillar; if their enemies besiege them in the land of their cities; whatever plague or whatever sickness there is—

29whatever prayer and supplication is made by any man, or by all your people Israel, who will each know his own plague and his own sorrow, and shall spread out his hands toward this house,

30then hear from heaven your dwelling place and forgive, and give to every man according to all his ways, whose heart you know (for you, even you only, know the hearts of the children of men),

31that they may fear you, to walk in your ways as long as they live in the land which you gave to our fathers.

32“Moreover, concerning the foreigner, who is not of your people Israel, when he comes from a far country for your great name’s sake and your mighty hand and your outstretched arm, when they come and pray toward this house,

33then hear from heaven, even from your dwelling place, and do according to all that the foreigner calls to you for; that all the peoples of the earth may know your name and fear you, as do your people Israel, and that they may know that this house which I have built is called by your name.

34“If your people go out to battle against their enemies, by whatever way you send them, and they pray to you toward this city which you have chosen, and the house which I have built for your name;

35then hear from heaven their prayer and their supplication, and maintain their cause.

36“If they sin against you (for there is no man who doesn’t sin), and you are angry with them and deliver them to the enemy, so that they carry them away captive to a land far off or near;

37yet if they come to their senses in the land where they are carried captive, and turn again, and make supplication to you in the land of their captivity, saying, ‘We have sinned, we have done perversely, and have dealt wickedly;’

38if they return to you with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of their captivity, where they have been taken captive, and pray toward their land which you gave to their fathers, and the city which you have chosen, and toward the house which I have built for your name;

39then hear from heaven, even from your dwelling place, their prayer and their petitions, and maintain their cause, and forgive your people who have sinned against you.

40“Now, my God, let, I beg you, your eyes be open, and let your ears be attentive to the prayer that is made in this place.

41“Now therefore arise, Yahweh God, into your resting place, you, and the ark of your strength. Let your priests, Yahweh God, be clothed with salvation, and let your saints rejoice in goodness.

42“Yahweh God, don’t turn away the face of your anointed. Remember your loving kindnesses to David your servant.”
