2 Crônicas 17— comparação

1Josafá, seu filho, reinou em seu lugar e fortaleceu-se contra Israel.

2Ele colocou tropas em todas as cidades fortificadas de Judá, e estabeleceu guarnições na terra de Judá e nas cidades de Efraim, que Asa, seu pai, havia tomado.

3O SENHOR estava com Josafá, porque ele andou nos primeiros caminhos de seu pai Davi, e não buscou os baalins,

4mas buscou o Deus de seu pai, e andou em seus mandamentos, e não nos caminhos de Israel.

5Portanto, o SENHOR estabeleceu o reino em sua mão. Todo o Judá trouxe tributo a Josafá, e ele teve riquezas e honra em abundância.

6Seu coração se animou nos caminhos do SENHOR. Além disso, ele removeu os altos e os postes de Aserá de Judá.

7Também no terceiro ano de seu reinado, ele enviou seus príncipes, a saber, Ben-Hail, Obadias, Zacarias, Natanael e Micaías, para ensinarem nas cidades de Judá;

8e com eles os levitas, Semaías, Netanias, Zebadias, Asael, Semiramote, Jônatas, Adonias, Tobias e Tobe-Adonias, os levitas; e com eles Elisama e Jeorão, os sacerdotes.

9Eles ensinaram em Judá, tendo consigo o livro da lei do SENHOR. Eles percorreram todas as cidades de Judá e ensinaram entre o povo.

10O temor do SENHOR caiu sobre todos os reinos das terras que estavam ao redor de Judá, de modo que não fizeram guerra contra Josafá.

11Alguns dos filisteus trouxeram presentes a Josafá e prata como tributo. Os árabes também lhe trouxeram rebanhos: sete mil e setecentos carneiros e sete mil e setecentos bodes.

12Josafá engrandeceu-se extraordinariamente; e ele construiu fortalezas e cidades-armazéns em Judá.

13Ele realizou muitas obras nas cidades de Judá; e tinha homens de guerra, guerreiros valentes, em Jerusalém.

14Este foi o número deles, segundo as casas de seus pais: De Judá, os capitães de milhares: o capitão Adna, e com ele trezentos mil guerreiros valentes;

15e ao seu lado o capitão Joanã, e com ele duzentos e oitenta mil;

16e ao seu lado Amasias, filho de Zicri, que voluntariamente se ofereceu ao SENHOR, e com ele duzentos mil guerreiros valentes.

17De Benjamim: Eliada, um guerreiro valente, e com ele duzentos mil homens armados com arco e escudo;

18e ao seu lado Jeozabade, e com ele cento e oitenta mil prontos e preparados para a guerra.

19Estes eram os que serviam ao rei, além daqueles que o rei colocou nas cidades fortificadas por todo o Judá.

1Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his place, and strengthened himself against Israel.

2He placed forces in all the fortified cities of Judah, and set garrisons in the land of Judah and in the cities of Ephraim, which Asa his father had taken.

3Yahweh was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, and didn’t seek the Baals,

4but sought the God of his father, and walked in his commandments, and not in the ways of Israel.

5Therefore Yahweh established the kingdom in his hand. All Judah brought tribute to Jehoshaphat, and he had riches and honor in abundance.

6His heart was lifted up in the ways of Yahweh. Furthermore, he took away the high places and the Asherah poles out of Judah.

7Also in the third year of his reign he sent his princes, even Ben Hail, Obadiah, Zechariah, Nethanel, and Micaiah, to teach in the cities of Judah;

8and with them Levites, even Shemaiah, Nethaniah, Zebadiah, Asahel, Shemiramoth, Jehonathan, Adonijah, Tobijah, and Tobadonijah, the Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, the priests.

9They taught in Judah, having the book of Yahweh’s law with them. They went about throughout all the cities of Judah and taught among the people.

10The fear of Yahweh fell on all the kingdoms of the lands that were around Judah, so that they made no war against Jehoshaphat.

11Some of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat presents and silver for tribute. The Arabians also brought him flocks: seven thousand seven hundred rams and seven thousand seven hundred male goats.

12Jehoshaphat grew great exceedingly; and he built fortresses and store cities in Judah.

13He had many works in the cities of Judah; and men of war, mighty men of valor, in Jerusalem.

14This was the numbering of them according to their fathers’ houses: From Judah, the captains of thousands: Adnah the captain, and with him three hundred thousand mighty men of valor;

15and next to him Jehohanan the captain, and with him two hundred eighty thousand;

16and next to him Amasiah the son of Zichri, who willingly offered himself to Yahweh, and with him two hundred thousand mighty men of valor.

17From Benjamin: Eliada, a mighty man of valor, and with him two hundred thousand armed with bow and shield;

18and next to him Jehozabad, and with him one hundred eighty thousand ready and prepared for war.

19These were those who waited on the king, in addition to those whom the king put in the fortified cities throughout all Judah.
