2 Crônicas 15— comparação

1O Espírito de Deus veio sobre Azarias, filho de Odede.

2Ele saiu ao encontro de Asa e lhe disse: “Ouçam-me, Asa, e todo o Judá e Benjamim! O SENHOR está com vocês enquanto vocês estão com ele; e se o buscarem, ele será achado por vocês; mas se o abandonarem, ele os abandonará.

3Ora, por muito tempo Israel esteve sem o verdadeiro Deus, sem um sacerdote que ensinasse e sem lei.

4Mas quando, em sua angústia, eles se voltaram para o SENHOR, o Deus de Israel, e o buscaram, ele foi achado por eles.

5Naqueles tempos não havia paz para quem saía, nem para quem entrava; mas grandes aflições estavam sobre todos os habitantes das terras.

6Eles foram despedaçados, nação contra nação, e cidade contra cidade; pois Deus os afligiu com toda adversidade.

7Mas sejam fortes! Não deixem suas mãos enfraquecerem, pois o trabalho de vocês será recompensado.”

8Quando Asa ouviu estas palavras e a profecia do profeta Odede, ele cobrou ânimo e removeu as abominações de toda a terra de Judá e de Benjamim, e das cidades que havia tomado na região montanhosa de Efraim; e ele restaurou o altar do SENHOR que estava diante do pórtico do SENHOR.

9Ele reuniu todo o Judá e Benjamim, e aqueles de Efraim, Manassés e Simeão que moravam com eles; pois muitos de Israel vieram a ele em grande número quando viram que o SENHOR, seu Deus, estava com ele.

10Então eles se reuniram em Jerusalém no terceiro mês, no décimo quinto ano do reinado de Asa.

11Naquele dia, eles sacrificaram ao SENHOR, dos despojos que haviam trazido, setecentos bois e sete mil ovelhas.

12Eles entraram em aliança para buscar o SENHOR, o Deus de seus pais, de todo o seu coração e de toda a sua alma;

13e que todo aquele que não buscasse o SENHOR, o Deus de Israel, deveria ser morto, fosse pequeno ou grande, homem ou mulher.

14Eles juraram ao SENHOR em alta voz, com gritos de júbilo, com trombetas e com clarins.

15Todo o Judá se alegrou com o juramento, pois haviam jurado de todo o seu coração e o buscaram com todo o seu desejo; e ele foi achado por eles. Então o SENHOR lhes deu descanso ao redor.

16Ele também destituiu Maaca, mãe do rei Asa, da posição de rainha-mãe, porque ela havia feito uma imagem abominável para Aserá; então Asa derrubou a imagem dela, a esmagou até virar pó, e a queimou no ribeiro de Cedrom.

17Mas os altos não foram removidos de Israel; contudo, o coração de Asa foi perfeito todos os seus dias.

18Ele trouxe para a casa de Deus as coisas que seu pai havia consagrado e as que ele mesmo havia consagrado: prata, ouro e utensílios.

19E não houve mais guerra até o trigésimo quinto ano do reinado de Asa.

1The Spirit of God came on Azariah the son of Oded.

2He went out to meet Asa, and said to him, “Hear me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin! Yahweh is with you while you are with him; and if you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will forsake you.

3Now for a long time Israel was without the true God, without a teaching priest, and without law.

4But when in their distress they turned to Yahweh, the God of Israel, and sought him, he was found by them.

5In those times there was no peace to him who went out, nor to him who came in; but great troubles were on all the inhabitants of the lands.

6They were broken in pieces, nation against nation, and city against city; for God troubled them with all adversity.

7But you be strong! Don’t let your hands be slack, for your work will be rewarded.”

8When Asa heard these words and the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he took courage, and put away the abominations out of all the land of Judah and Benjamin, and out of the cities which he had taken from the hill country of Ephraim; and he renewed Yahweh’s altar that was before Yahweh’s porch.

9He gathered all Judah and Benjamin, and those who lived with them out of Ephraim, Manasseh, and Simeon; for they came to him out of Israel in abundance when they saw that Yahweh his God was with him.

10So they gathered themselves together at Jerusalem in the third month, in the fifteenth year of Asa’s reign.

11They sacrificed to Yahweh in that day, from the plunder which they had brought, seven hundred head of cattle and seven thousand sheep.

12They entered into the covenant to seek Yahweh, the God of their fathers, with all their heart and with all their soul;

13and that whoever would not seek Yahweh, the God of Israel, should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman.

14They swore to Yahweh with a loud voice, with shouting, with trumpets, and with cornets.

15All Judah rejoiced at the oath, for they had sworn with all their heart and sought him with their whole desire; and he was found by them. Then Yahweh gave them rest all around.

16Also Maacah, the mother of Asa the king, he removed from being queen mother, because she had made an abominable image for an Asherah; so Asa cut down her image, ground it into dust, and burned it at the brook Kidron.

17But the high places were not taken away out of Israel; nevertheless the heart of Asa was perfect all his days.

18He brought the things that his father had dedicated and that he himself had dedicated, silver, gold, and vessels into God’s house.

19There was no more war to the thirty-fifth year of Asa’s reign.
