1 Timóteo 6— comparação

1Todos os que são servos debaixo do jugo considerem seus próprios senhores dignos de toda honra, para que o nome de Deus e a doutrina não sejam blasfemados.

2Os que têm senhores crentes não os desprezem por serem irmãos; pelo contrário, sirvam-nos ainda melhor, porque os que participam do benefício são crentes e amados. Ensine e exorte estas coisas.

3Se alguém ensina uma doutrina diferente e não concorda com as sãs palavras, as palavras de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo, e com a doutrina que é segundo a piedade,

4ele é presunçoso, nada entende, mas é obcecado por discussões, disputas e batalhas de palavras, das quais nascem inveja, contendas, insultos, suspeitas malignas,

5atritos constantes de pessoas de mente corrompida e privadas da verdade, que supõem que a piedade é fonte de lucro. Afaste-se dessas pessoas.

6Mas a piedade com contentamento é grande lucro.

7Pois nada trouxemos para o mundo, e certamente não podemos levar nada dele.

8Tendo, porém, alimento e vestuário, estaremos contentes com isso.

9Mas os que estão determinados a enriquecer caem em tentação, em uma armadilha e em muitos desejos tolos e nocivos, que mergulham os homens na ruína e na destruição.

10Pois o amor ao dinheiro é uma raiz de todos os tipos de males. Alguns, em sua ganância, se desviaram da fé e traspassaram a si mesmos com muitas dores.

11Mas você, homem de Deus, fuja dessas coisas e siga a justiça, a piedade, a fé, o amor, a perseverança e a mansidão.

12Combata o bom combate da fé. Tome posse da vida eterna para a qual você foi chamado, e sobre a qual fez a boa confissão diante de muitas testemunhas.

13Eu lhe ordeno diante de Deus, que dá vida a todas as coisas, e diante de Cristo Jesus, que perante Pôncio Pilatos testemunhou a boa confissão,

14que você guarde o mandamento sem mácula e irrepreensível, até a manifestação de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo,

15a qual, no tempo certo, ele mostrará, ele que é o bendito e único Soberano, o Rei dos reis e Senhor dos senhores.

16Ele é o único que possui imortalidade, que habita em luz inacessível, a quem nenhum homem viu nem pode ver, a quem seja a honra e o poder eterno. Amém.

17Ordene aos que são ricos na presente era que não sejam arrogantes, nem coloquem sua esperança na incerteza das riquezas, mas no Deus vivo, que nos provê ricamente de todas as coisas para desfrutarmos;

18que façam o bem, que sejam ricos em boas obras, que estejam prontos para repartir e dispostos a compartilhar;

19acumulando para si mesmos um bom fundamento para o tempo que há de vir, a fim de que possam tomar posse da vida eterna.

20Timóteo, guarde o que lhe foi confiado, afastando-se do falatório inútil e das contradições do que é falsamente chamado de conhecimento,

21o qual alguns professam e, assim, se desviaram da fé.

1Let as many as are bondservants under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honor, that the name of God and the doctrine not be blasphemed.

2Those who have believing masters, let them not despise them because they are brothers, but rather let them serve them, because those who partake of the benefit are believing and beloved. Teach and exhort these things.

3If anyone teaches a different doctrine and doesn’t consent to sound words, the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness,

4he is conceited, knowing nothing, but obsessed with arguments, disputes, and word battles, from which come envy, strife, insulting, evil suspicions,

5constant friction of people of corrupt minds and destitute of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain. Withdraw yourself from such.

6But godliness with contentment is great gain.

7For we brought nothing into the world, and we certainly can’t carry anything out.

8But having food and clothing, we will be content with that.

9But those who are determined to be rich fall into a temptation, a snare, and many foolish and harmful lusts, such as drown men in ruin and destruction.

10For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some have been led astray from the faith in their greed, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

11But you, man of God, flee these things, and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness.

12Fight the good fight of faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called, and you confessed the good confession in the sight of many witnesses.

13I command you before God who gives life to all things, and before Christ Jesus who before Pontius Pilate testified the good confession,

14that you keep the commandment without spot, blameless until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ,

15which at the right time he will show, who is the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords.

16He alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen nor can see, to whom be honor and eternal power. Amen.

17Charge those who are rich in this present age that they not be arrogant, nor have their hope set on the uncertainty of riches, but on the living God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy;

18that they do good, that they be rich in good works, that they be ready to distribute, willing to share;

19laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold of eternal life.

20Timothy, guard that which is committed to you, turning away from the empty chatter and oppositions of what is falsely called knowledge,

21which some profess, and thus have wandered from the faith. Grace be with you. Amen.
