1 Samuel 7— comparação

1Os homens de Quiriate-Jearim vieram, levaram a arca do SENHOR e a colocaram na casa de Abinadabe, na colina; e consagraram a Eleazar, seu filho, para guardar a arca do SENHOR.

2Desde o dia em que a arca ficou em Quiriate-Jearim, passou-se muito tempo — vinte anos se passaram; e toda a casa de Israel buscou o SENHOR com lamentos.

3Samuel falou a toda a casa de Israel, dizendo: “Se vocês estão se voltando para o SENHOR de todo o coração, então tirem do meio de vocês os deuses estrangeiros e as imagens de Astarote, e dirijam os seus corações ao SENHOR, e sirvam somente a ele; e ele os livrará das mãos dos filisteus.”

4Então os filhos de Israel removeram os baalins e as imagens de Astarote, e serviram somente ao SENHOR.

5Samuel disse: “Reúnam todo o Israel em Mispá, e eu orarei ao SENHOR por vocês.”

6Eles se reuniram em Mispá, tiraram água e a derramaram perante o SENHOR; jejuaram naquele dia e disseram ali: “Nós pecamos contra o SENHOR.” E Samuel julgou os filhos de Israel em Mispá.

7Quando os filisteus ouviram que os filhos de Israel estavam reunidos em Mispá, os governantes dos filisteus subiram contra Israel. Ao ouvirem isso, os filhos de Israel ficaram com medo dos filisteus.

8Os filhos de Israel disseram a Samuel: “Não pare de clamar ao SENHOR, o nosso Deus, por nós, para que ele nos salve das mãos dos filisteus.”

9Samuel pegou um cordeiro que ainda mamava e o ofereceu como holocausto inteiro ao SENHOR. Samuel clamou ao SENHOR por Israel, e o SENHOR lhe respondeu.

10Enquanto Samuel oferecia o holocausto, os filisteus se aproximaram para lutar contra Israel; mas o SENHOR trovejou com grande estrondo naquele dia contra os filisteus e os colocou em pânico; e eles foram derrotados diante de Israel.

11Os homens de Israel saíram de Mispá e perseguiram os filisteus, e os feriram até chegarem abaixo de Bete-Car.

12Então Samuel pegou uma pedra, colocou-a entre Mispá e Sem, e lhe deu o nome de Ebenézer, dizendo: “Até aqui o SENHOR nos ajudou.”

13Assim os filisteus foram subjugados e não voltaram a invadir o território de Israel. A mão do SENHOR esteve contra os filisteus durante todos os dias de Samuel.

14As cidades que os filisteus haviam tomado de Israel foram devolvidas a Israel, desde Ecrom até Gate; e Israel recuperou o seu território das mãos dos filisteus. Houve paz entre Israel e os amorreus.

15Samuel julgou a Israel todos os dias da sua vida.

16De ano em ano ele fazia um circuito por Betel, Gilgal e Mispá; e julgava a Israel em todos esses lugares.

17Depois voltava para Ramá, pois a sua casa ficava lá, e ali julgava a Israel; e construiu ali um altar ao SENHOR.

1The men of Kiriath Jearim came and took Yahweh’s ark, and brought it into Abinadab’s house on the hill, and consecrated Eleazar his son to keep Yahweh’s ark.

2From the day that the ark stayed in Kiriath Jearim, the time was long—for it was twenty years; and all the house of Israel lamented after Yahweh.

3Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying, “If you are returning to Yahweh with all your heart, then put away the foreign gods and the Ashtaroth from among you, and direct your hearts to Yahweh, and serve him only; and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines.”

4Then the children of Israel removed the Baals and the Ashtaroth, and served Yahweh only.

5Samuel said, “Gather all Israel to Mizpah, and I will pray to Yahweh for you.”

6They gathered together to Mizpah, and drew water, and poured it out before Yahweh, and fasted on that day, and said there, “We have sinned against Yahweh.” Samuel judged the children of Israel in Mizpah.

7When the Philistines heard that the children of Israel were gathered together at Mizpah, the lords of the Philistines went up against Israel. When the children of Israel heard it, they were afraid of the Philistines.

8The children of Israel said to Samuel, “Don’t stop crying to Yahweh our God for us, that he will save us out of the hand of the Philistines.”

9Samuel took a suckling lamb, and offered it for a whole burnt offering to Yahweh. Samuel cried to Yahweh for Israel, and Yahweh answered him.

10As Samuel was offering up the burnt offering, the Philistines came near to battle against Israel; but Yahweh thundered with a great thunder on that day on the Philistines and confused them; and they were struck down before Israel.

11The men of Israel went out of Mizpah and pursued the Philistines, and struck them until they came under Beth Kar.

12Then Samuel took a stone and set it between Mizpah and Shen, and called its name Ebenezer, saying, “Yahweh helped us until now.”

13So the Philistines were subdued, and they stopped coming within the border of Israel. Yahweh’s hand was against the Philistines all the days of Samuel.

14The cities which the Philistines had taken from Israel were restored to Israel, from Ekron even to Gath; and Israel recovered its border out of the hand of the Philistines. There was peace between Israel and the Amorites.

15Samuel judged Israel all the days of his life.

16He went from year to year in a circuit to Bethel, Gilgal, and Mizpah; and he judged Israel in all those places.

17His return was to Ramah, for his house was there, and he judged Israel there; and he built an altar to Yahweh there.
