1 Reis 11— comparação

1Ora, o rei Salomão amou muitas mulheres estrangeiras, além da filha do faraó: mulheres moabitas, amonitas, edomitas, sidônias e hititas,

2das nações sobre as quais o SENHOR havia dito aos filhos de Israel: “Vocês não irão para o meio delas, nem elas virão para o meio de vocês, pois certamente desviarão o coração de vocês para os seus deuses.” A estas Salomão se apegou com amor.

3Ele teve setecentas esposas, princesas, e trezentas concubinas. E suas esposas desviaram o seu coração.

4Quando Salomão ficou velho, suas esposas desviaram o seu coração para outros deuses; e o seu coração não era totalmente fiel ao SENHOR, seu Deus, como era o coração de Davi, seu pai.

5Pois Salomão seguiu a Astarote, deusa dos sidônios, e a Milcom, a abominação dos amonitas.

6Salomão fez o que era mau aos olhos do SENHOR, e não seguiu totalmente ao SENHOR, como fez Davi, seu pai.

7Então Salomão construiu um alto para Camos, a abominação de Moabe, no monte que está em frente a Jerusalém, e para Moloque, a abominação dos filhos de Amom.

8Assim ele fez para todas as suas esposas estrangeiras, as quais queimavam incenso e sacrificavam aos seus deuses.

9O SENHOR indignou-se contra Salomão, porque o seu coração havia se desviado do SENHOR, o Deus de Israel, que lhe havia aparecido duas vezes,

10e lhe havia ordenado acerca disso, que não seguisse a outros deuses; mas ele não guardou o que o SENHOR lhe ordenou.

11Portanto, o SENHOR disse a Salomão: “Visto que você fez isso, e não guardou a minha aliança e os meus estatutos, que lhe ordenei, certamente arrancarei o reino de você, e o darei ao seu servo.

12Contudo, não farei isso nos seus dias, por amor a Davi, seu pai; mas o arrancarei da mão do seu filho.

13No entanto, não arrancarei todo o reino; mas darei uma tribo ao seu filho, por amor a Davi, meu servo, e por amor a Jerusalém, a qual escolhi.”

14O SENHOR levantou um adversário contra Salomão: Hadade, o edomita. Ele era da descendência do rei em Edom.

15Pois quando Davi estava em Edom, e Joabe, o comandante do exército, subiu para sepultar os mortos, e feriu a todos os homens em Edom

16(pois Joabe e todo o Israel permaneceram ali seis meses, até que ele eliminou a todos os homens em Edom),

17Hadade fugiu, ele e alguns edomitas dos servos de seu pai com ele, para ir ao Egito, quando Hadade ainda era um menino pequeno.

18Eles partiram de Midiã e chegaram a Parã; levaram homens consigo de Parã e chegaram ao Egito, ao faraó, rei do Egito, que lhe deu uma casa, providenciou-lhe alimento e lhe deu terras.

19Hadade encontrou grande favor aos olhos do faraó, de modo que este lhe deu por esposa a irmã de sua própria esposa, a irmã da rainha Tafnes.

20A irmã de Tafnes deu-lhe à luz seu filho Genubate, a quem Tafnes desmamou na casa do faraó; e Genubate vivia na casa do faraó, entre os filhos do faraó.

21Quando Hadade ouviu no Egito que Davi dormiu com seus pais, e que Joabe, o comandante do exército, estava morto, Hadade disse ao faraó: “Deixe-me partir, para que eu possa ir para o meu próprio país.”

22Então o faraó lhe disse: “Mas o que lhe tem faltado comigo, para que agora procure ir para o seu próprio país?”

23Deus levantou outro adversário contra ele, Rezom, filho de Eliada, que havia fugido de seu senhor, Hadadezer, rei de Zobá.

24Ele reuniu homens em torno de si e tornou-se capitão de um bando, quando Davi matou os de Zobá. Eles foram para Damasco, viveram lá e reinaram em Damasco.

25Ele foi um adversário de Israel todos os dias de Salomão, além do mal que Hadade causou. Ele abominava Israel, e reinou sobre a Síria.

26Jeroboão, filho de Nebate, um efraimita de Zereda, servo de Salomão, cuja mãe se chamava Zerua, uma viúva, também levantou a mão contra o rei.

27Esta foi a razão pela qual ele levantou a mão contra o rei: Salomão construiu Milo e reparou a brecha da cidade de Davi, seu pai.

28O homem Jeroboão era um homem valente e capaz; e Salomão viu que o jovem era diligente, e o encarregou de todo o trabalho da casa de José.

29Naquele tempo, quando Jeroboão saiu de Jerusalém, o profeta Aías, o silonita, o encontrou no caminho. Ora, Aías estava vestido com uma veste nova; e os dois estavam sozinhos no campo.

30Aías pegou a veste nova que usava e a rasgou em doze pedaços.

31Ele disse a Jeroboão: “Tome dez pedaços; pois o SENHOR, o Deus de Israel, diz: 'Eis que arrancarei o reino da mão de Salomão e darei dez tribos a você

32(mas ele terá uma tribo, por amor a meu servo Davi e por amor a Jerusalém, a cidade que escolhi dentre todas as tribos de Israel),

33porque eles me abandonaram, e adoraram a Astarote, deusa dos sidônios, a Camos, deus de Moabe, e a Milcom, deus dos filhos de Amom. Eles não andaram nos meus caminhos, para fazer o que é reto aos meus olhos, e para guardar os meus estatutos e as minhas ordenanças, como fez Davi, seu pai.

34“'No entanto, não tirarei todo o reino da sua mão, mas o farei príncipe todos os dias da sua vida, por amor a Davi, meu servo, a quem escolhi, o qual guardou os meus mandamentos e os meus estatutos;

35mas tirarei o reino da mão do seu filho e o darei a você, ou seja, as dez tribos.

36Darei uma tribo ao seu filho, para que Davi, meu servo, tenha sempre uma lâmpada diante de mim em Jerusalém, a cidade que escolhi para mim, para ali colocar o meu nome.

37Eu o tomarei, e você reinará sobre tudo o que a sua alma desejar, e será rei sobre Israel.

38E acontecerá que, se você ouvir tudo o que eu lhe ordenar, e andar nos meus caminhos, e fizer o que é reto aos meus olhos, guardando os meus estatutos e os meus mandamentos, como fez Davi, meu servo, então eu estarei com você, e lhe edificarei uma casa firme, como edifiquei para Davi, e darei Israel a você.

39Afligirei a descendência de Davi por causa disso, mas não para sempre.'”

40Por isso Salomão procurou matar Jeroboão, mas Jeroboão se levantou e fugiu para o Egito, para Sisaque, rei do Egito, e esteve no Egito até a morte de Salomão.

41Ora, o restante dos atos de Salomão, e tudo o que ele fez, e a sua sabedoria, não estão escritos no livro dos atos de Salomão?

42O tempo que Salomão reinou em Jerusalém sobre todo o Israel foi de quarenta anos.

43Salomão dormiu com seus pais, e foi sepultado na cidade de Davi, seu pai; e Roboão, seu filho, reinou em seu lugar.

1Now King Solomon loved many foreign women, together with the daughter of Pharaoh: women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Sidonians, and Hittites,

2of the nations concerning which Yahweh said to the children of Israel, “You shall not go among them, neither shall they come among you, for surely they will turn away your heart after their gods.” Solomon joined to these in love.

3He had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines. His wives turned his heart away.

4When Solomon was old, his wives turned away his heart after other gods; and his heart was not perfect with Yahweh his God, as the heart of David his father was.

5For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites.

6Solomon did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight, and didn’t go fully after Yahweh, as David his father did.

7Then Solomon built a high place for Chemosh the abomination of Moab, on the mountain that is before Jerusalem, and for Molech the abomination of the children of Ammon.

8So he did for all his foreign wives, who burned incense and sacrificed to their gods.

9Yahweh was angry with Solomon, because his heart was turned away from Yahweh, the God of Israel, who had appeared to him twice,

10and had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods; but he didn’t keep that which Yahweh commanded.

11Therefore Yahweh said to Solomon, “Because this is done by you, and you have not kept my covenant and my statutes, which I have commanded you, I will surely tear the kingdom from you, and will give it to your servant.

12Nevertheless, I will not do it in your days, for David your father’s sake; but I will tear it out of your son’s hand.

13However, I will not tear away all the kingdom; but I will give one tribe to your son, for David my servant’s sake, and for Jerusalem’s sake which I have chosen.”

14Yahweh raised up an adversary to Solomon: Hadad the Edomite. He was one of the king’s offspring in Edom.

15For when David was in Edom, and Joab the captain of the army had gone up to bury the slain, and had struck every male in Edom

16(for Joab and all Israel remained there six months, until he had cut off every male in Edom),

17Hadad fled, he and certain Edomites of his father’s servants with him, to go into Egypt, when Hadad was still a little child.

18They arose out of Midian and came to Paran; and they took men with them out of Paran, and they came to Egypt, to Pharaoh king of Egypt, who gave him a house, and appointed him food, and gave him land.

19Hadad found great favor in the sight of Pharaoh, so that he gave him as wife the sister of his own wife, the sister of Tahpenes the queen.

20The sister of Tahpenes bore him Genubath his son, whom Tahpenes weaned in Pharaoh’s house; and Genubath was in Pharaoh’s house among the sons of Pharaoh.

21When Hadad heard in Egypt that David slept with his fathers, and that Joab the captain of the army was dead, Hadad said to Pharaoh, “Let me depart, that I may go to my own country.”

22Then Pharaoh said to him, “But what have you lacked with me, that behold, you seek to go to your own country?” He answered, “Nothing, however only let me depart.”

23God raised up an adversary to him, Rezon the son of Eliada, who had fled from his lord, Hadadezer king of Zobah.

24He gathered men to himself, and became captain over a troop, when David killed them of Zobah. They went to Damascus and lived there, and reigned in Damascus.

25He was an adversary to Israel all the days of Solomon, in addition to the mischief of Hadad. He abhorred Israel, and reigned over Syria.

26Jeroboam the son of Nebat, an Ephraimite of Zeredah, a servant of Solomon, whose mother’s name was Zeruah, a widow, also lifted up his hand against the king.

27This was the reason why he lifted up his hand against the king: Solomon built Millo, and repaired the breach of his father David’s city.

28The man Jeroboam was a mighty man of valor; and Solomon saw that the young man was industrious, and he put him in charge of all the labor of the house of Joseph.

29At that time, when Jeroboam went out of Jerusalem, the prophet Ahijah the Shilonite found him on the way. Now Ahijah had clad himself with a new garment; and the two of them were alone in the field.

30Ahijah took the new garment that was on him, and tore it in twelve pieces.

31He said to Jeroboam, “Take ten pieces; for Yahweh, the God of Israel, says, ‘Behold, I will tear the kingdom out of the hand of Solomon and will give ten tribes to you

32(but he shall have one tribe, for my servant David’s sake and for Jerusalem’s sake, the city which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel),

33because they have forsaken me, and have worshiped Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, Chemosh the god of Moab, and Milcom the god of the children of Ammon. They have not walked in my ways, to do that which is right in my eyes, and to keep my statutes and my ordinances, as David his father did.

34“‘However, I will not take the whole kingdom out of his hand, but I will make him prince all the days of his life for David my servant’s sake whom I chose, who kept my commandments and my statutes,

35but I will take the kingdom out of his son’s hand and will give it to you, even ten tribes.

36I will give one tribe to his son, that David my servant may have a lamp always before me in Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen for myself to put my name there.

37I will take you, and you shall reign according to all that your soul desires, and shall be king over Israel.

38It shall be, if you will listen to all that I command you, and will walk in my ways, and do that which is right in my eyes, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as David my servant did, that I will be with you, and will build you a sure house, as I built for David, and will give Israel to you.

39I will afflict the offspring of David for this, but not forever.’”

40Therefore Solomon sought to kill Jeroboam, but Jeroboam arose and fled into Egypt, to Shishak king of Egypt, and was in Egypt until the death of Solomon.

41Now the rest of the acts of Solomon, and all that he did, and his wisdom, aren’t they written in the book of the acts of Solomon?

42The time that Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel was forty years.

43Solomon slept with his fathers, and was buried in his father David’s city; and Rehoboam his son reigned in his place.
